I think it is called BBC Standard Received Pronunciation or somesuch. The audio gear of the day called for a slower, clearly enunciated delivery. Of course, having been to the right school also helped.

During my aircraft engineering apprenticeship training we viewed many films that were produced by Shell. Some fascinating stuff.

Wow - Beaufighter - hope they get it together! Always think of it as the spiritual grandaddy of the A-10 Warthog, such a pugnacious nose! Googled HARS, and their front page is an overhead of that 747 in company of some prop predecessors. Gives a great indication of how massive that aeroplane is. And what splendid feets, thanks for posting, Mike

Sounds about right... last trip Dubai-Akl took the baggage just on a week to emerge. Mind you, people show the same resourcefulness as those early flyers: When Auckland airport flooded earlier in the year, the baggage check-ins went under, and the scales were U/S. Personnel were asked to bring stuff from home, and weigh-in happened on everyone's bathroom scales!

Well my last two PC's did not have optical drives. The Warehouse recently announced they would no longer sell DVD's. Probably a good thing. Someone has calculated that there's about 20 Zettabytes of data stored on Planet Earth. (It goes: Kilo, Mega, Giga, Tera, Peta, Exa, Zetta) The stack of DVD's required for that would circle the earth 25 times. My CD rack won't do. So it'll be up to the likes of Microsoft and Oracle to keep the stuff alive in their Clouds. Hope they look after everything OK.

"they really did seem to care." Charl, they probably did, but that was last century. Today, you would just be "too hard in 13A" Old Reg got a bit careless, and suffered a very public backdown  This is from the Flight Attendants Association of Australia webpage Passionately serving you 1975: “The Old BoilersDispute” began over poor pay and the push for recognition of the primarily safety related role of flight attendants. Reg Ansett insulted the Unionists calling them “glorified waitresses” and the Union Executive “Old Boilers”. The outraged hostesses voted to strike...
