SimPit visit

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Just got back from visiting my daughter in the Nelson area and took the opportunity to visit Tomas out at his SimPit Business in Motueka.

I was completely blown away by the experience. Although I have experienced his earlier version when it was based in Tahunanui (a suburb? of Nelson City) and greatly enjoyed it, this new version is a BIG step up in realism. The actuators on the set and pedals make you experience the G-effects as you turn, dive and climb. I couldn't believe the feeling of realism that this system imparts to the whole flying experience. The stall buffets were great as was the ground roll effects.

I think that if I didn't have a wife to answer to I would be saving up my pennies to invest in one of these systems - it IS that good.

I will be visiting the SimPit again when I return to Nelson in December and again in January. This is not one of those things that you keep in the back of your mind for your next visit. This is the reason for going there - any other reason is secondary (just don't tell my wife that I said that!)

Please excuse the model in these photos, he wouldn't get out of the cockpit and so the photos had to be taken despite the detraction this pilot provides to the images . . . . .

Don't walk, don't run. Sprint as fast as you can - even better fly direct to the Simpit and experience this yourselves. You won't regret it.

The experience is enhanced by the time that Tomas puts in to ensure that you get the most out of your time there. He is completing a 2nd unit so that two can fly with/against each other so that's another drawcard as far as I'm concerned.

Hope you appreciated the rave but this exceeded my expectations by so much and provided so much realism that I just had to share it and hope that many of you too will get to enjoy this as well.

Yes, I greatly enjoyed the L-39 and then was lucky enough to try the Iris Pilatus PC-9 for a follow up flight in heavy overcast with a cloud base of 1500' - had to rely on the instruments which made it quite exciting.

That is Tomas's own photo-real Motueka and the surrounding districts to the West - maybe there's more than that but I didn't go to far that direction spending most of my time around Motueka, Nelson, Havelock and Woodbourne.

Its great, getting real the feel is there , the PC-9 would be a good honest sim ... and the cloud and weather added, that would be an extra.

yeah in the cloud with no visibility makes it much more interesting. Maybe I should add nightfall to it as well!

That would make for a good shot , I got the opportunity to fly in the old Reddifission 737-200 simulator , back then it was only b/w and night viewing ,
