70 Years of Pitts: First Announcement

This from Andrew Love:

For those that have not heard, the NZ Aerobatic Club is running a Regional Aerobatic Competition, at Omaka over the 13th-15th November, later this year. We are being hosted by the Marlborough Aeroclub with support for the event from the Aviation Heritage Centre.
With this year being 70 years, since Curtis' little biplane, bearing his own name, first flew, and with celebrations taking place all over the world, not the least, nearly 70 examples of the type being at Oshkosh last month, I felt that we have to do something here in New Zealand.
The South Island Akrofest will add to the Brian Langley Trophy, at Northshore which will give us a good lead in to the Nationals held at Masterton during March.
This year, the highlight, will be the gathering of as many of this classic little biplane as possible, and the first aerobatic competition in the south island being held will form the foundation of the event in the future.

On behalf of the NZ Aerobatic Club, I would like to extend this invitation to all aviators and enthusiasts. No matter what you fly or what your involvement or interest is, I see this gathering as an excuse to get together and celebrate aviation, EAA style. No one knows how to do it better.
I am struggling to think of a better airfield to host such an event as Omaka with it's vibrant GA activity, as well as being a prominant home to several warbird collections.

Schedule:

13th: Arrivals, evening dinner @ Aeroclub.
14th:
0830: Briefing (Aerobatic entrants)
0930: Aerobatic box opens
1200: Aerobatic box closes
1500: Briefing (4minute free style competitors)
1600: Aerobatic Box open for duration of 4min free flights
1900: Dinner / Prizegiving
15th: Departures

We will have the visiting aerobatic aircraft, displayed along the fenceline outside the Aviation Heritage Centre and the Aerobatic Box, will be situated over the field, to the south west
