FS Labs A320 FSX release date 18 Aug

Postby cowpatz » Wed Aug 17, 2016 8:06 am

Release date and special price for FSX for early adopters. P3D to be released not to long after but at a higher price point. It will be interesting to see just how much higher.

You can read about it here.

Been a while coming.

I was wondering how you would take this news Ian :)

One good thing with Airbus is they do pioneer some new features. ROPAS (Runway overun protection system) being one of them.
This automatically and dynamically calculates landing distance versus landing distance available on the fly (no pun intended). At anytime there is a shortfall it issues an aural alert. It also calculates for dry/wet conditions and MEL items. On the ground it also senses distance remaining and issues braking instructions. You can also program it with the taxiway that you would like to exit by.
A clever bit of kit and is a requirement for us for night ops into NZQN.
Ground speed minimum system on approach.
The new A320/321NEOS we are getting will have automatic TCAS avoidance capability when on autopilot (actually this is interesting as the current A320's don't have this feature) It may have to be retrofitted to the older aircraft as it would be a significant risk factor to operate the older and newer types together.

I have the Aerosoft 320X , hav'nt really played around with it, .... real life tho I have never seen so many go around's at Christchurch during a North West on runway 29/11 , probably the very thing you mentioned but would that not require runway information ILS for example for it to know how much runway it has , not sure how the 320 systems work yet .... only brought it to be with the in-crowd.

For the bus I think the FMS 'knows' where it is and knows how long the runway is with great accuracy and is able to calculate how far along the runway it's landed and other fun stuff to give indications on the PFD to the pilots. There's a good article in the company pilots magazine about it.

Also I don't speak Airbus English, only a variant of it, and that's confusing enough as it is.

Cheers Lindy .. I've only been on the real flight deck twice, the first was a Classic , don't tell anybody this, but is a great way to get thru customs .. ask to get on the flight deck and chat to the pilots , by time time both of us finished it was so late Custom people were already tucked up in bed :D

Man you read some of the comments on various flt sim forums about this release and you have to wonder why anyone actually bothers developing sophisticated add ons for flight sim (well any add ons in fact).
There are a lot of prats out there in FS land.

CP, if real world aircraft have it, it should be modelled, or at least simulated. GPS these days is within 10 metres, but what really worries me is too much automation. Taking control away from the pilot only passes the safety responsibility up the line to the maintenance people, whether they be IT or electrical. It does not make the aircraft itself inherently safer. This discussion has been going on for years in the rail transport world, for the same reason.
At least in the sim, I can turn crashes off. It's a bit different in real life. :(

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

I don't know why I'm currently reading the 11 page post on avsim about this.

I think $100 + is a fair price for (probably) the most advanced airliner yet.

People can't believe it! Think about what you're getting and how many hours you're going to get out of it.

One thing tho If your a fan off the aircraft , you would buy it , there is also a thing of 'over engineering' something that truly is suppose to be easy to fly, the 737's are that easy tho you can adapt the aircraft to be as computer controlled as a 320 ... the thing with 'over engineering' , a good example was the last big Concorde release, that feel on its face or lest very little mentioned about it, bro Allan got a copy for his birthday and told me he still has not figured it out, that would be the ideal Auckland to Sydney - Sydney to Christchurch machine and that is with old technology.

Yeah, I've slowly dropped the Airbus vs Boeing thing. Same with Apple vs Everything.
I don't have time for that :)

I just fly in NZ + Aus if I'm in the mood. So the A320 dominates that market. 320 the B737 Dash8 and I'm set. An ATR72-5/600 would be interesting too.
I had the 777 for FSX but I didn't feel like repurchasing it for P3D. I didn't fly it much anyway.

That is the biggest thing, how dose it compare and is there any real difference between the Aerosoft 320X . I don't why so many compete with a FS model that is already so well done.

The ATR series, one would have thought that would have been the ideal target model, I did like my FS9/2004 model , but going ahead to FSX/P3D ATR I would have thought that would make sense.

It's for a different customer. If you're happy with the Aerosoft bus then this isn't meant for you.

Plus, Ian, what are you doing here?? You know we're discussing an Airbus right? :P :P

Ohh I'm going to find that thread and read it.

I'm highly upset that it doesn't have SEC plans

This add on is looking exceptional.
Here is a great Airline2Sim video quick review of it. I don't really like the Airbus (for a variety of reasons) however this will definitely be going into my hangar when they release the P3D version.

Check this out.
