P3D v4.5 released

Postby jpreou » Wed Apr 10, 2019 8:23 am

... apparently ... but some concerns being voiced in the P3D forums
I think I am still on 4.3 but haven't used it for quite some time (still haven't installed WN yet either)
I'm keeping an eye on XP and AFS2 as well, but I'm only interested in NZ scenery right now and both are a little lacking (albeit XP has some if you are willing to search around ... which I am not, 'cos I'm basically lazy now and want an easy experience!)

I woke this morning with joy and hope in my heart, I'd really been looking forward to 4.5. Since 4.4 I've had a problem with some scenery objects not always loading, especially at Nelson. I've reported that here before, as well as on the Prepar3d forum, and although it seemed that this wasn't just me, or just Nelson, there was no real consensus. So when I saw 'Fixed loading issue that could sometimes prevent various buildings from loading' I did think that my problems were over. Alas, no.
I may do a complete update just to be sure, but I'm not expecting miracles.
Bugger.

Apart from the fact that it wrote off a whole day getting this installed and tested, I am pleased with the result. One thing it did fix, by the way -- water limpidity using PTA. This broke with 4.4, so I was thinking I'd need to redo the New Brighton coastline to remove the blue waves, but now I can tweak it to show more of the photo through the water. They will be cheering at Central New Brighton Primary School, where I was edjucated.
I have had a couple of CTDs using the menus, or maybe this is related to the Options menu in particular. I think if I access the options twice in a session, I have a problem. Others seem to have something similar.

Im happy with whatever it is I have now ....as Buddha once said "what is, is , and what is not, is not"
version 5 ...6 ...7 , whatever. This constant catch up "must have" is beyond me. I sit where I'm happy and comfortable.
Just saying ^_^

I can certainly understand that. A long time ago I said that I'd always support the latest version of the 'current' sim, and while that was easy going from FS2004 to FSX, Prepar3d's updates are a bit trickier to keep up with. There are always subtle changes in the way the sim looks, lighting etc, so it's a pain the have to tweak stuff every few months.
And then there's playing catchup, where I hope that the next version will fix the problems caused by the previous one, and not introduce too many new ones! If I wasn't making scenery, I'd fall back to 4.2, which worked great for me.
(I also run 3.4, but I really notice the performance gain in v4.)

Same, for the most part; I am still on 4.3 ... I have downloaded, but not installed, v4.4 and now v4.5 -- ready for when I do. Same with NZWN actually.
