All 20,000 of them , funny, some of the historical comments about the aircraft in the late 1940s and early 1950s when first introduced ... Bolted down undercarriage is this months screen shot competition theme ...... who's going to be first smile.gif

I'm debating about swapping my contest shot with something featuring the An-2, but we'll see.
There are a lot of little features and "easter eggs" to be discovered with this model!

Ian (or anyone else), do you know if any activity is planned for the An-2 you guys have over there?

With the interest and the cost i'm guessing many SHOULD have this weekend .

The photo Phil took must have been on its return from Wanaka Easter weekend April 5th,6th,7th & 8th , it was at the airshow in 1996 . I better check my painting schedule blink.gif and other work load stuff current .

Lower left side of the cockpit for the fans (and windshield wipers!), Ian.

They make noise, spin, and look kind of dangerous since they're uncovered! laugh.gif

thumbup1.gif , Cheers Matey ... this is why so many Russian pilots die ... they normally would have survived the impact off a heavy landing but fell into those fans laugh.gif , funny how most all Russian aircraft had them installed .

Have a bit of testing to do , d/loaded the paint kit then be able to have a play later today cool.gif

Figured out the NZA on the German one is the plane's sponsor. It's a clothing company in Europe that has no offices in New Zealand....rather, it's based in The Netherlands. What a strange naming decision.

Great digging Paul , I'll contact Hani , be his true Kiwi connection all the way from Brazil biggrin.gif

Course , Dairy Flat ... just shows ya .. you could drive home faster than that is the old airshow commentators adage tongue.gif

So Paul , for your FS-PC update you need rudder pedals and a throttle quadrant ... huh.gif ..... Kwel ! cool.gif

...and that hungarian one is still flying...

See their start video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3sHTVBRSDA

Translation (I had to, so typical):

Passenger: shouldn't the fuel pressure come up after using that wobble pump?
Pilot: Yes, I was just looking at it thinking the same....
Passenger: The needle doesn't move at all...

A couple of click later...

Passenger: Look it's moving now!
Pilot: Yup, seems to be a contact issue...

Once the engine started:

Pilot: Hell yeah!...Finally....f**k....

smile.gif

I guess every start is a small miracle with this bird. We had quite a few of them in Hungary....I never liked them, that's why I didn't Stagger over the Beech...

And here is the same plane doing touch-n-go's:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbbD_hLOLpw

Jeeez, you can really hear the lack of suspension here....

And finally here is anothar hungarian one, still active, used as a spraying aircraft to kill mosquitos....No, not the De Havilland ones...

Thankyou Naki - I was wondering if there was a preserved one in NZ. I know of one which is a regular visitor to Toowoomba airshows, but I have yet to see it.
Better check Matt's post to see what he has winkyy.gif

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'
