Now there's an idea! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Interestingly, Orbx have confirmed it's not them and also implied the deal does include the FSX code.

The biggest question and obviously what i read out off other forums, Lockheed Martin knew off this, when PD3 was opened to the world and I thought they had brought the rights and license , now knowing that ... how long dose it take to sell a 30 year old franchise ... do they have multiple customers biting for the product?

Well...here's hoping the news is good. This could either be great for the simulator community or another attempt at a Microsoft Flight arcade-style program.

I'm sure again from other reads .. No one is going to want to go down the same track as 'FLIGHT', be good to see a company that can work with Lockheed-Martin and combine the best off both worlds.

Well, the statements so far seem to imply that the buyer may be a bit unfamiliar with the concept of flight simulation, which is why it's a worry for me. Anyway....again....here's hoping.

Hmmm saying that , why would you buy something you have no knowledge of the program, I think we would be safe in saying who ever it is would know the custom base .. course there is also everyone else sitting and still running , of all things FS98 - and still building on it - you have the FS9's and the combat sim fella's , they will be selling the entire concern and not just FSX .

I have to admit, it's quite amusing to see people worried about this news. What is to worry about? Another flight sim application? Oh the horror!

This will either be a good thing, or nothing much at all. FSX will still be FSX. P3D will still be P3D.

We are not worried, most are worried what will happen to their lives without the newest updates and fang dangle things.

Yeah, not you guys. Was referring to the original discussion links an AVSIM, etc... There are some silly people out there!

One interesting thing I read was that it may allow Lockheed to take P3D to the entertainment market. They aren't allowed to at the moment because they'll be competing with another Microsoft product (FSX). However, if the FS brand is sold then that licensing restriction could possibly be lifted, as MS will no longer have the rights to FS anyway.

I'd hate to see it sold to a console game development company, then we'd just have another Microsoft Flight situation on our hands..

But it will be very interesting as to where this goes.

I'm sure after the 'FLIGHT' debacle, and when it and who ever picks up the Sim will have a a huge custom base.

Hopefully, it is not McDonalds... unsure.gif

In Ernest, it is not a good message. It is time, to see what PREPAR3D V. 2 is and how X-Plane 10 64-Bit is positioned in the event that such an "investor" like McDonalds ruin the Flight Simulation.

Unconfirmed report that the purchase was for the code/license just for FLIGHT, not FSX.

Well put. Does anyone other than 8 year olds with a PS console actually use flight? If so are we sick of Hawaii yet?
It might have promise if the buyers want to expand the scenery to a global level. We will have to wait and see.
I thought an announcement was supposed to be made at E3 days ago?
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!
