Same here. Not using vatsim weather. ozzy aiport codes bring up a current metar instantly but NZ airports with weather stations NZCH and NZWN come up with an empty search. I just did a reinstall, same thing. Yesterday's nz airport searchres where producing metar reports. I have tryed the weather station setting few to most with and with out vatsim. No difference.

Yeah, I've been able to replicate this issue as well. I have already raised to the team on our Beta board. Hope to have something for you soon. I'm sure it won't be hard for them to replicate the issue, it only took me a few minutes.

Anyone else here have a problem with initial loading times? 3rd day in a row now, I get an *eleven minute* initial download/interpolation stage before I can do anything sad.gif

The more weather stations you select the longer it will take to interpolate. 11 minutes is excessive, i'll take it over to the team and see if this can be improved.

Well I dont know whats happened but all seems to be well now. NZCH and NZWN show metar info and interpolated weather seems to load for all areas that i fly within NZ. Evan US and AU weather seemed to be playing up earlier on but this picture speaks for itself. Its the same weather I've been steering at all day hear in Hamilton. Cant complain about that.

All said and done ..guess its just time for it to mature , trouble NZ is the lack of weather stations .. compare and test then be a small patch , for the size and if you own it , won't be an issue .

Funny thing I just mananged to stuff it up again but now I think i know what I'm doing wrong. When I start REXe i am imediatly clicking on the fly now tab and if your quick enough it will bybass the wait for the weather updating and interpolating which understandably mucks it up. So I exit and reload the weather and now the I can get NZAK, NZWN and NZCH metar. Couldnt find AK before but when I type in NZHN into the search box it comes up with all 3 so i just select the closest. Jump back into FSX and off I go. Next time I will wait for REXe to to its thing before I enter FSX and see if it will load the correct weather automaticaly based on my location. I will report back.

when you do a manual search on the weather Tab on the main REX gui, it will list surrounding weather stations and there distance from you.

its worth the trouble Ian. Its hard so describe but the clouds are just more convincing (as if they were'nt already). I was looking at the wispy clouds out of the car window today and I thought Wow that looks ecactly like REXe and I'm positve that the 1024kbit textures look better than the last version which equates to more performance.

Has anyone been able to bet reasonably acccuarte local weather in essentials?? Not me. Today in Hamilton i get medium cloud cover with sun and light winds. Not evan close to the wellington and chrischurch weather stations that NOAA use.

I think the problem is theres only two (as far as I can find) ICAO that have a weather station.

Although I did make the mistake (don't read much ...just play with settings till Im happy smile.gif ) in selecting Config..Manager/Weather Engine/Weather Surface Region.... I selected Small Region when I should have selected Entire Region. Made all the difference after I changed to Entire World. dry.gif

Was wondering why I was flying from Snow covered area to Full on Sunshine then Windy Dark Clouded Wellington. laugh.gif

Just flew YPLM to YPPH with Entire World selected and Wow huge difference.

Still a Noob!!!!!

It definatly gets metar for NZAA, however it doesnt seem to autoload weather based on my location in fsx, I have to do a weather search buy entering the airport code in the weather tab of the main REXe gui then load in the weather. Kind of a pain.

Andrew,

Are you using Vatsim weather in REXE? The default NOAA weather only has reports for NZWP,NZAA,NZOH,NZWN and NZCH and the rest are interpolated ( calculated guess work) from the weather engine. There are many more Vatsim weather reporting stations in NZ that will help out with ensuring closer to accurate weather but there are still issues with Vatsim weather loading correctly in REXE. ( Check out their forums for more info.)

I have now got a setup that works most of the time fairly close to real world weather in NZ although it can take some fiddling to get it displaying.

The Dev team are working on a patch which may help fix the Vatsim weather load issue and thus the NZ weather.

So ... NZCH is the *only* weather station covering the whole of the South Island?

Yes it is the only one that NOAA have a record for. I thought that NZQN was also reported but i guess there are only really NZ and Oz flights that use it so not much call for flights departing US airspace. REXE will interpolate weather for all the other weather stations that are included as standard ( i.e you can get default FSX weather for them).

Finally figured out how to access the Essential support forum, and spent some time reading through it this morning, so most of my issues have been solved. Whether or not it's 'real' weather around the South Island, I've had a couple of great flights today, and everything behaved really well.

Another wee bout of no NZ weather stations today, but it only lasted a short time.

I solved the annoying click problem by removing the 'start navigation' sound, which I don't think I'll miss. I had figured out how to restrict this click to when I'm flying only, but even then it annoyed me, so I was happy to get rid of it completely. I was leaving REX running so it would be quicker to restart FSX, which works fine except that I was leaving the WX running after a flight -- closing that down switched back to the Rex interface, which doesn't click all the time.
