Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Postby timest999 » Mon May 28, 2012 10:31 am

Folks,

In LESS than 2 hours REX Essential for FSX and Prepar3D will be released... FREE to all of our current customers. If you do not own REX, the flightsimstore.com will have it ready as well. Visit our forum and get verified so you may have access to the free update when it's released. Our forum has a countdown timer, and once it counts down, we will release the product as well as our new website. Be sure to check out the site for more information at that time! http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com

Cheers,
Tim

So if we already have installed REX overdrive do we need to install essential now?

It is automatically available on your Flightsimstore account. Just go to the REX2 purchase and it will be a download link to Rex Essential. For REX2 only not Overdrive. That will come later.

Essential is only for REX2 at this stage with an update to overdrive coming shortly.

However at 4.2GB download and not so fast servers ( or very busy) from the look of it, it may take some time to download. I am 5.2% and counting. I think i will leave it going overnight ( and probably tomorrow at this rate).

Yep its sure gonna be an expensive month or 2. The Lancair looks tip top, its sex on wings. I browsed the essentials manual and there is a new setting where you can controll the minimum visability altitude. So you can set it at ground level instead of the 1500 ft mark where it usualy kicks in. That will make a huge difference. We have to wait however for Overdrive compatability.

I was lucky. I was online when the countdown ended and leapt straight on to their UK server for the download. I see their forums are down now, probably due to the high demand. Only had a quick look last night after installing and it's not properly configured yet but REX Essential looks superb and they've certainly raised the bar even higher than REX2 did. Excellent work! thumbup1.gif clapping.gif

I had a fully up to date REX2 install plus OverDrive, so I uninstalled all of that first and then reinstalled just REX2 from the DVD. REX Essential goes straight over the top with no problems, although make sure you've done their recommended pre-upgrade procedures first. The REX Essential update for existing users comes in at 1.2Gb.

I spend eleven months of the year in the UK and one in NZ. I'm hoping to improve that... ;-)
