Hey, noticed this announcement over in the Avsim Forums. Not sure if it's true or a rumour but could shake things up a bit!

Yes, I'll need to buy some popcorn this week, and sit back and be entertained by the chatter.

We can also tell you that the licensee is not one that we would have thought to have been a logical candidate in terms of direct knowledge of the product[/quote]

So, who are the (un)likely candidates?

Well Goooooly Gee, the place had never been the same since Billy Gates left, almost thirty years plus years of flight simulation on my PCs ... now I wonder who's in the market to buy it or has the dosh! .. FLIGHT was a flop , ... Lockheed Martin using a little piece of it who else is in the market to develop and buy the complete franchise , another aviation company would be great .. or maybe WOOLWORTHS brand could stick a finger in the pie ?

Funny I just trolled through the AVSIM thread ... I thought off little 'Kimmy dot com', .. why buy it .. another thought, if you develop for the FSX do you instantly become a party member?

What I'm reading it's a company from within the FS community, so I'm picking Aerosoft (or maybe Flight 1)? Aerosoft maybe the only one with the grunt...and they have tried to put a stand alone simulator together before.

I don't even think little 'Kimmy' could even afford the franchise ... one thing, if you are going to buy such a well known concern, at its cost .. you are going to want to make sure you make some profit real quick.

Biggest thing to think about , how safe is your activation ... but then look at it this way maybe we will get an EXTRA super FSE, put in the old 'Flight' coding gleam and clean .. smile.gif

From AVSIM: "We can also tell you that the licensee is not one that we would have thought to have been a logical candidate in terms of direct knowledge of the product, leading us to conclude that this licensee had the deepet pockets."

I suspect we may not like the answer, although it'll be very interesting to see what develops. Also the actual terms of the deal. Does it include the FSX codebase or is it just rights to use the "Flight Simulator" name on an entirely new product?

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'
