I think you must be Ardmore's most featured pilot on youtube Jarred!

Great vid though- really clear quality. Your mate must have a top of the line digi-recorder.

It is a Sony DCR-PC100... a high-end consumer unit when he got it in 2001, but not a professional job... just a decent miniDV based unit. I give a lot of the credit of the quality to:

- The fact that he has been reading some tips on filming ie. putting focus on manual and setting it to 'infinity' so it is not constantly re-focussing, rule of 1/3's, use of zoom (or lack thereof) etc.
- The smooth conditions
- SteadyShot™

Actually, there was not really a lot of flare... it was a fairly flat landing. Almost a 3-pointer! ninja.gif I think the camera angle is a bit deceptive.

That would explain the amazing high quality zoom in and out of the monument at the top of One Tree Hill- that could be used as stock footage for TVNZ or something!

Ahhh yes... that was Paul finally discovering that if you use gentle pressure on the rocker switch, that it zooms in and out nice and slow... as opposed to the "star wars lightspeed" effects we had in the raw footage from the night flight video! ahahahahaah rolleyes.gif

Also, I think the fact that the raw file I uploaded to YouTube was an 85meg 720x576 wmv file probably helps the conversion and resulting quality... I see it also has a 'watch in high quality' link...

I tried it out, but YouTube seems be very slow at the moment... so I gave up after around 1/2 hour sad.gif

if anyone wants a copy of the the original (85megs worth), I can upload it to Rapidshare...
