Haven't heard anything about that. Was there much damage? (no injuries I'm assuming)

Fine, Mr A185F angry.gif
Happened at approx 7pm on Wed 23rd, ZK-MAN was landing on runway 20, and ended up coming off at what appears to be quite some speed on the left side of the runway, about 300mt in from the 02 threshold. no injuries, only the crew on it at the time, aircraft towed out with tow truck back onto runway, they started one engine and taxied back to hangar. Airport was closed for approx 3 hours (opened 10pm) i think all the Air Nelson flights due in made it in after that, although running very late.

there was a little article about it in the thursday nights Nelson Mail, not very informative tho...

Heard through the grapevine that the fuel control unit on one engine malfunctioned and delivered full power on one side. The ground was wet, one wheel dug in and it went around.

the assymetric thrust caused them to come off the side of the runway, obviously, but if say, the managed to keep it on the runway, they wouldnt have been able to stop in time anyway because of the power that engine was still producing. the ended up off the runway only 100mt from the end (contrary to what i said in the first post) which isnt that far off.
I think that makes sense ohmy.gif
