Hot from the camera, some shots of the 747 Jumbo Hostel at Stockholm Arlanda airport, which is now open. I am spending the night here tonight, although I am a bit disappointed that they have moved the aircraft so the views from it are not good at all. At the moment, the engines are removed. The hostel has a total of 73 beds in 25 rooms, with a mixed of dorm rooms and private rooms. The cockpit suite costs up to about 330 Euros a night, so not cheap (the instruments have been removed as well). Cheapest is about 35 Euros a night for a shared room, including breakfast. I posted a few mofe details before about this hostel, but now that it is open, I have got the chance to try it.
The aircraft flew from 1976-2002 and had a long list of operators, starting with Singapore Airlines (March 1976), Pan Am, NationalAir Canada, Kuwait Airways, Garuda, Cathy Pacific, Air Club, Tower Air, Transjet, Northeast Airlines (2004) and finally Jet Midwest. Nice and modern inside, although the rooms feel more like compartments on a train than a plane. One big advantage is that it is only about 15 minutes walk from the terminals. Here are a few photos:-

Sampling the delights of Turkish Airlines tomorrow to IST, so will have one night in this 747 before flying.
smooth landings!!
