Just thought I would share a few screenies of another recent addition to my FS9 hangar - the FSD Piaggio Avanti, taken on a short hop from Denver International Airport to Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (KASE) in lovely Aspen, Colorado. She provides a very nice and stylish (not to mention fast - especially for a twin-turboprop) alternative to the Learjet 45.

Funny, I bought this one quite recently...think it was on special.
It's very Italian, classy but quirky.

Don't know what this 9-pax execuplane competes with really, the Lear 45 is 40% faster but also 40% more expensive.

What would look better, dropping the cabin steps for Kristin Scott Thomas to descend at St Moritz?

I'm sure a jet version was in the back of some Piaggio designer's mind, but I don't know if the wing would handle jet speeds.

There was a design with two jets built in the tail with a single exhaust , the canards were slightly swept and wing lower with delta LEX and winglets , did not make it into production because performance was equal if not less than the prop

The main competitor would be the King Air 350..the Avanti is almost as fast (or even faster) as many of the light jets (Citation Mustang etc) but it's a bit bigger and more expensive.

Piaggio is/was making a jet version but it looks more conventional..i.e no canards and conventional tail arrangement

Nice shots BTW....Wilco also makes a Avanti (includes a free Ferrari 599!) which is also available for FSX

I just noticed that the FSD plane is the Avanti I, and that Wilco's is the AvantiII - which has a glass cockpit (and the bonus of a Ferrari 599). It would be neat to do a side to side fly-off with the two.
