Great pics in this thread!

I notice you have ground object shadows turned ON in the Baron shot- does that have a big FPS impact?

It's great to see ZK-JHS represented in the GNZLAP also, although the real version actually has a cargo pod underneath:

I have seen it in Ardmore a few times, so I am guessing the really rich owners live in Whiting, and go shopping in Auckland in their plane at the weekends lol!

And is the Corromandel photoreal being re-done by Robin? I heard rumours of this but never actually read a definite conformation!

P.S. this is properly the wrong place to mention it, but, if I could pick any of the old Godzone sceneries to be redone for the RBE 20m mesh, I'd have to pick the Banks Peninsular photoreal ;)

Huge impact, screenshots only ;)

Yours is the first decent photo I've seen for ZK-JHS, wish Adrie had access to that at the time of the paint as the striping would've been a little lower.
On that score, if you (and this means EVERYBODY ) have any NZ GA photos like this one please please post them in Photographer's Corner (which lurks unnoticed as one of the general topics here).
The biggest problem we face is photo resources, and it takes hours of trawling to find decent shots on the internet. This is a group effort which really could be helped by anyone in the NZFF. So have a rummage in your photobox!

Look what I found at Turangi:

You'd think that was a Wings Over Whales Islander, right?
So where's the writing?
Talk about authentic, this plane was taken over by Mountain Air.
Before getting the complete makeover, it was operated like this, without the WOW signage, and that's why I found it in the central N Island!
I guess there are plenty of aircraft that pop up in different guise as the seasonal traffic loads demand.

Here's a Project within a Project:
PROJECT SQUIRREL

It's an effort to get some flingwings into the AI sky, and what better candidate than the Nemeth-based AS350?
In these pictures, the AI is blue, the red one is the flyable chase ship.

With newer computers, framerates will become less of an issue, even with quite detailed models.
The trick is to get them to behave like vertical takeoff critters, with maybe a little hovertaxi.
Mechanics Bay will be a candidate, but of course down south there will be many opportunities...

Is that a fs2004 first?

By no means, it's been done lots of times, with varying degrees of success.
In fact, if you have GNZLAP 3 loaded, cruise over Whangarei around 05:00 GMT and see what comes up over the town.

More news from Project Squirrel - at testing ground Mount Cook.
Ai helos need to taxi like conventional aircraft so the trick is to make an AFCAD with very short taxiways, and a runway extending into space.
That way, they appear to hover at the hold-short node.
Some fine-tuning still needed, but it is looking a little more like a helicopter now.
These shots are of some of the AI AS350's done to date, in company of GNZLAP MD500E camera ship.

There's a possible flightplan which gets a landing on the Tasman Glacier, maybe Fox too...

The south is full of excellent airport scenery, and will prove to be difficult to populate with convincing AI numbers.
Here's a start at NZCH with CAC planes from James (Partenavia) , Hamish (Seneca), and Chris Peschke (the rest).
Also that strange lost Ardmore Cessna?

EDIT (after the flightplan author's comment below)
Well it seems he got on a Boeing at Christchurch and went back to Texas because that darn Cessna is in all my NZCH screenshots!

Project Squirrel certainly is taking off!

I might not be able to fly choppers very well, but I certainly would love to have them buzzing around at Mechanics Bay and down on the glaciers as AI!

 Great work Charl, keep it up.

So with everyone looking a little gloomy, why not have a little music?
These guys will be in town in only 8days9hoursand44minutes...
The plane is for Snowman, although you have to look hard to see it...
Actually, it's Trolly's request - Saturday afternoon somewhere over the Hauraki Gulf.
Just listen.

Yep it's a parting gift to you from the GNZLAP for all your hard work!
I think you made the request about 100 years ago, but it finally percolated through to release.
Look out for it around lunchtime on a Sunday, flying from NZOX over your house!
