These pics were taken on a trip out to NZWU a coupla months back, when it was a nice-ish day and I felt like walking out to the airport for a look. And I got in touch with Wanganui Aero Work, who allowed me (after a call to their ops manager) to do some walkaround pics of their Tiger Moth ZK-AUZ, which I'll feature in the next post.

Squirrel ZK-HFA, former mount of long-time WAW pilot (and the man to whom Dad was co-pilot) Charlie Anderson. Refueling, as you do.

Mystery Eurocopter 120, which arrived as I was walking there. Bizarre, no-one explained where it came from or who it belonged to.

I was lucky enough to be in the WAW hangar as their little R44 was started up and took off for a job. I don't know if you can see in this pic, but the pilot's Jack Russel is in the back seat!

A little montage of the Wanganui Aero Club's hangar, with PA28 ZK-FRS in the foreground. FRS is the plane I've done my two flying lessons in. One day I'll fly her again......one day......

Fletcher ZK-CMK, longtime member of the WAW family. She was undergoing maintenance of some kind........I got a few strange looks from the engineers as I tried to sneak around, snapping away.

CMK's sturdy, Hamilton-built undercarriage. Imagine how many landings this set has endured in its existence......

Overwing cockpit-type pic. Engineer rewiring systems in the hot seat.

CMK (foreground) and Cresco LTS in Aero Work's engineering ("bottom") hangar.

My old house! From age dot to three, this little place was my home. Before Mum, Dad and I arrived it was home to the Wanganui Commercial Pilots School. This pic was taken from the back steps of Aero Work's "top" hangar, which houses the Tiger, R44 and Squirrel. The open building to the right of the house is "the barn", which houses any number of Fletchers, Crescos and loading trucks. Just out of shot on the right is the JetRanger hangar, which houses ZK-HTM. That's the one Dad used to fly.
