Still Confused

Recently I have been changing the 'TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX=' line in my fs9.cfg around to accommodate for the new REAL NZ addon, but have found a few abnormalities around Wellington.

Despite advice not to, I reset my 'TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=' to '19' yet every 2nd time I start the simulator (it is ok each time in between for some reason), I get my airports appearing half submersed in the RBE 20m mesh terrain.

Here are some shots of Ardmore for example:

When I try putting it to 'TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21', I loose the dimples around REAL NZ Wellington International, but get many other airport's runways and taxiways (including Ardmore), sunked in ditches below the terrain.

How can I fix this please?

PS.
I am using the NZAR afcad supplied with the GNZLAP v2, with the flatten edit provided in the readme.

Hi Trolly

This sort of problem isn't caused by the mesh, but the AFCADs or better the flattens that sit underneath the AFCADs. Other than disabling the GNZLAP AFCADs I cannot offer a fix unfortunately...

Hi Trolley. Your continuing ongoing saga with Ardmore problems.
Well, i might be able to help you, as i've fixed a lot of scenery bleeding and buried airport problems for Charl for the GNZLAP Zone 6 release, to suit 20m mesh.
Firstly, a couple of questions,........ are you using any scenery for Ardmore, or is it just the default airfield ??? Secondly, are you using Robin's Real NZ Auckland City ?? Thirdly, are you using Christians NZ Topo Scenery ?? Obviously you are using 20m mesh, but who's AFCAD are you using ??? The GNZLAP one, or the one that comes with NZ Topo (if you have it). I just re-read your post, your using the GNZLAP 2 AFCAD. I dont use any of the GNZLAP ones. They mostly ONLY suit DEFAULT terrain, without 20m mesh.
E-mail me a copy of the AFCAD you are using, and i will see if i can work some magic for you. We cant have you trying to drive a beautiful old lady like the DAK through mounds of dirt and grass like that, its just not decent !!
I use Rob Diebolds Auckland Airports 2006. He extracted the airports only from the Auckland 2005 scenery to suit Real NZ Auckland. The Auckland 2005 was a heavy frame rate hitter, but with the airports only , and RealNZ Auckland, the fps are much better.

Hi Lawrie,

Yep I am using the 20m mesh and topo combo with the GNZLAP afcad.

I don't think any AFCADS are included in the Redbaron package are they?

What I am worried about is removing the NZAR afcad file. If I do this, I will loose most of my Auckland light AI planes won't I?

I don't know your e-mail addy, so I have uploaded the AFCAD file for you here instead: http://uploadhut.com/view.php/170796.bgl

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew.
The Red Baron Topo DOES add airfields to NZ. 350 of them ! (Read page 2 of the Topo manual, 2nd paragraph down on the left). The runway set also includes aprons of the bigger airports (read page 3 of the manual, paragraph (2) on the right hand side of the page). This option is selected by default, maybe you should have read the manual first, and unticked this option during install. I did, as i know a lot of others did, didnt want it affecting any other installed airport sceneries.
Dont panic, youre not gonna lose any planes at Ardy. You didnt tell me if you are using Robin's RealNZ Auckland ?? I need to know if im going to duplicate your problem so i can make a fix for you.
I will have a look at a fix for NZAR for you, and let you know ASAP.

Lawrie.

ok, time to clear up some confusion...

The RBE topo doesn't add any AFCADs. The topo merely adds 3500 grass strips all across the country, but no AFCADs. I think there are less than a 100 AIPs for NZ.

Back to Trolly's problem, I really don't know what GNZLAP does with the AFCADs. Usually the flatten is handled by special flatten polygons, not sure why the GNZLAP AFCADs create this effect. I can't really comment as I have to admit that although GNZLAP 3 is installed on my system, I haven't been in FS204 for while.

Not an ideal situation, but unfortunately out of my hands as I don't offer an AFCAD pack - it's up to the GNZLAP guys to sort this out :( (Don't get me wrong, I love the work these guys been doing - the AI is fantastic!)

No worries Christian. I just finished fixing it for him.
All that was needed was a simple flatten, and all is fixed.
Took me all of about 6 minutes to fix.
