Blurry VC textures

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

Postby ZK-Brock » Sun Nov 12, 2006 9:37 am

Hi all
In FSX in VC mode (this goes for all planes), some textures in the VC are very blurry, so much so that they are unreadable. This goes especially for things like switch labels. Because of this I end up having to switch to 2D view to switch light on and off etc, so I know what I'm doing!

Any suggestions?

What hardware are you using, and what are your graphic settings?

Thought it would be easier to show you what I am getting, this is the 747-400 VC, the files are slightly fuzzy due to the jpeg compression, but as you can see things are pretty clear.

I have left the images the size they were captured, reducing them would defeat the purpose a little, so my apologies to our freinds on dial up if these pix take some time to load.

They look pretty clear I would have thought, for a VC, I've always found the 2D panel in FS9 to be where I push buttons, and the 3D panel was where I actually did the flying.

If that's default VC in FSX it's pretty cool looking.

Hi Matt
Your VC is much clearer than mine.
I guess I'll just play around with my settings.

Sorry Monkey, those VC pics are Jon's (I don't have FSX). I didn't realise they were his until re-reading the thread just now.

i'm having the exact same problem as you. but i get the sinking feeling that to get a VC as crisp as that, i'd end up with approximatly 3 frames per second.
as for the VC itself, it seems devoid of switches that actually work.

Zoltuger: Perhaps that's the case in the larger aircraft, but I feel that in the smaller aircraft at least (up to the King Air), they VCs are quite good, certainly better than the FS9 ones.

Still haven't found how to fix em.

Here are some pics of my King Air VC. 3 Images totalling 134 mb. They were resized, so some compression artifacts were created.

The Overhead panel. The switches are clickable, but how do I know what they do?

Make sure the following Display settings are checked on your setup.

Global texture resolution - very high (on the graphics tab)
and tick high resolution 3d cockpit (on the aircraft tab)

Hope this helps

Deane- Thanks! I already had the Hi-res VC option ticked, but not the ultra-high global textures. Look at the results!
