Mesh 75

I started my FS9 installation by installing NZ 75M Mesh then NZ Landbase Scenery and finally NZ Topo Scenery. I am also going to install Real NZ Wellington.
If I want to upgrade to Mesh 20M can I just install it? or do I have to try and remove the Mesh 75M? Any advice would be appreciated.

Howdy Pato,

Not Christian, but ...

When you purchase the 20m Mesh, it will also include the 75m Mesh too. So, there's no need to uninstall what you already have. (Actually, the various mesh resolutions act as "buffers" when mesh is viewed at a distance, or at least that's my understanding of how differing resolutions packaged together works.)

Dorian

Many thanks for that. I understand that the 20M is a lot better and before I started to add new programs I was a little concerned that I would have to uninstall the 75M but you have put my mind at rest. I am real new to this and have started with the flying lessons but "Rod" the instructor is upsetting me a bit lol.
I wonder if there is a better program for me to get that would incorporate the 20M and perhaps other enhancements?

haha yes, Rod, hes good fun ae  I went threw all the lessons, make sure you print the (150 pages I think) ground school stuff so your prepared for each lesson, therefore hopefully avoiding the "lets stop now and try again later" lol But if you give up you can print the certificates from the fs9 "uries" folder hehe

Hi Pato

As Dorian wrote the 20m mesh includes the 75m mesh (simply because it looks better in medium distances). Now I'm not quite sure anymore what I did with the installers. It might so be that when you install the 20m mesh it asks you to deinstall the 75m mesh first. That's ok, simply continue the uninstall and then install the 20m mesh and you're all set.

If you're using FS2004 I recommend you get the NZ combo from www.geographx.co.nz which includes the 20m mesh and also the topo (which gives you lots of roads and much better coastlines).

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Christian

Thanks Christian,
I have installed NZ 75M. NZ Landbase Scenery and NZ Topo Scenery and I am awaiting the Real NZ Wellington. Anything else I should get at this early stage in my flying career!!. As I have already got the NZ Topo wouldn't that cover the Combo? or am I missing something?. I presume I can just purchase the 20M mesh but I do not see any reference to it alone other than the combo?.

Jimmy, Pleased to see someone else went through this. I am sick of hearing "lets try that again" or "your banking too much" no matter how much bank you put on LOL.
I don't know if printing the 150 pages would help?. I just read through the lesson.
I must admit I am trying to rush ahead a bit.

Hi Pat

As you observed correctly if you own the topo you don't need to get the combo. Instead buy the 20m mesh from where you bought the topo, because you'll get a discount (unless you bought from fspilotshop).

In regards to learning to fly, I did the hardcore approach and bought some aviation books (the Aviation Theory Centre is great, but it's not cheap). You learn a lot more than from Rod, even how to properly spin an aircraft. I recommend you get Rob Young's free C172 as the default C172 can't spin (but Rob's does).

Cheers

Hi Christian,

Thanks for all the info much appreciated.
I purchased the Topo from Simmarket.com But I can't see any reference to the 20M Mesh on that site so perhaps I can't get the discount you mentioned?. I also can't find Rob Youngs default C172 on Google. Heck, how will I ever learn to fly if I can't find the programs LOL

Pat.

Hi Pat

Here you go:

20m mesh
http://secure.simmarket.com/product_inf ... ts_id=1308

If you order the mesh you should get a discount (since you own the topo).

LOL, I was very proud when I first compleated my Private Pilots certificate on fs9, and still have it stuck on my wall!

Only now have I realised I could easily have forged it by going into the Uries folder, hehe
