Trans Tasman Endurance Flight- Who wants to join?

For everything about online flying around New Zealand

OK I could work that with a bit of juggling. Can you give good instuctions about this IVAO that I've heard of but never checked out? And that livery for the feelthere Caravan?
So the 4th is a Monday. If there is some scope for use of the autopilot would be good even if you could allow say up to 1 hour at a time and no more than 3 times for the whole trip? That plane does trim pretty well so thats not a huge deal it's being away from the mike.
I will be taking care of my two kids needs at the same time which is why I ask what I do. I'll see if a friend can come over and help with them, I'll have to ask but I wouldn't count on it.
It'll be fine, I only really need to be away for the same amount of time it takes to go take a dump (That's not too much information is it?) and I can pepare the kids with food and snacks and DVD's to keep them relatively out of my face.
I like Monday better than Tuesday for what that's worth.
I'll now try and find out about IVAO. I'll google that and see what happens. :plane:

Monday is better suited for me, as Im off to PMR on the tuesday for the day... ANd then an earlier start would also be better due I have a whole day of intreviews and such in Palmy.. lol

Do you reckon we should have a poll on the preffered multiplayer use for the flight or is it pretty much sorted? :)

I don't think that will work mate, you can't connect into an Ivao server unless you connect as an Ivao member, I'm sure that it uses a different protocol to standard multiplayer.

Good luck for the trip guys, sorry but I can't join you.

Alright- Monday the 4th it is.

I will be officially departing NZOX at 1pm, and be logged on at 12.30ish to give help to anyone connecting.

Instead of IVAO, I will use default TS on the 'Inspire NZ' server (203.114.130.15) and go on Teamspeak for voice comms.

The reason for this choicer over IVAO is for a number of reasons:

i) everyone will be able to fly rather than just IVAO members
ii) you are not required to sign up and download loads of MB's worth of IVAO material (as nice as it is), just for one flight
iii) Craig has volunteered his ATC skills for the entire flight, so we are pretty much covered.
iv) You can get 9 hours towards your name if you are a NZFFac member by joining in

So, free up your diary's- and watch this space. I will soon post details to the Caravan .cfg edit required for us all to see the same aircraft on the "TTEC" as well as a link to my Feelthere repaint!

Thanks everyone

Are we required to use the Cessna Caravan? I quite fancy a Piper cub.

I really hope you can make it Jimmy- maybe let your Mum thread through this thread and let her see that what you want to do is very safe and won't hurt ya!

I quite fancy a Piper cub.

The reason I requested default C208's is because they will be able to match the speed of my Feelthere C208 and we will be able to cruise in a group.

If you can mod your Cub to fly at 160kias, then go for it :P , if not, and you don't mind being a little left behind, then it's fine too.

Might I also mention, you will need the following scenery downloads for the flight:

Port Macquarie Airport By John Ross for FS2004 (6mb): http://virtualvfr.com/fsim/portmac_johnross61.zip

A very attractive small airport approximately midway between Sydney and Brisbane on Australia's east coast. The airport handles regular Dash 8 Qantas flights to Sydney and there are also regular flights to Brisbane and other regional locations. In addition it is a very busy general aviation airport with a flying school and aero club. The size of the airport has allowed me to put in that extra detail which makes to terminal and surrounds very much "as in real life". Photographic textures are used throughout for the buildings and modeling is exclusively GMAX to help on frame rates. Thanks to the cooperation of the Hastings District Council and airport staff the relative positions of all of the buildings are exactly to scale as shown on scale drawings of the airport. All buildings are represented including the aero club, flying school, hangars and of course the terminal. AFCAD and Traffic Tools files are included to add extra AI traffic.

VOZ 1.1 www.vistaoz.org (not manditory, but really makes Australia come alive!)

Norfolk Island 'flood' fix, pinned at the top of the scenery forum

NZFF Aero Club base for NZOX, available from the NZFFac linked forum on the main page.

Default AFCAD's for Kaitia, Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island would be worth having running, so we all land at the same spot.

Hi Trolly,

Could you possibly make up a list of everything we need to do and download before the big flight?? Thanks.

Also how do we get into the session, Ive never used the default multiplayer before...?

Thanks mate!

See my previous post in this thread, there is only one 'must have' download, which is the Port Macquarie Airport scenery. VOZ and RBE landclass textures are optional.

Also how do we get into the session, Ive never used the default multiplayer before...?

I have written a guide describing exactly how to connect to Inspire's server here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/nzff/index. ... wtopic=296

Also, please edit the "title=" line of whatever aircraft.CFG you are flying exactly to:
title=Cessna Grand Caravan

This is so that no matter what version of C208, or other aircraft we are flying in, we will all see each other as in Grand Caravans online. As this is a default model, it will also be smooth on FPS!

Guys you may think I am totally insane when you hear my idea / plan for this Enduro Flight so here goes.

Aircraft: Schwiezer 300 Float Model
Destinations: NZOX - NZKT - ???? - YSNF - YLHI - YPMQ
Time Target for Completion is: 8 hours
Fuel: 250L
I have dropped off fuel in a secret location on a beach strip near Cape Rienga.

I know it sounds far fetched but Im going to give it a go and push that little S300 to the limit I will carry additional fuel on board obviously its not going to make it all the way from some of the stops so I will compensate for that by refueling my gerry-cans at each stop so I can land on the water and refuel my little beast please reserve all comments for the final landing at Port Macqaurie lol you guys are so gonna mock me about this.

I am aiming to be the first kiwi to fly a Trans Tazzy Enduro Flight in a S300 Helicopter in under 8 hours.

Ya Never know it could be history in the making lol plus adding Real World Weather will be even more fun.

My Latest Estimate

NZOX - ???? - YSNF - YLHI - YPMQ

I have left Kaitia out because after doing a flight from NZOX to NZKT I concluded that I can by-pass NZKT and head straight for my alternative refueling strip.

Obviously Im going to be a fair way behind most of you boys but Im not attempting to keep up this is simply to see if it can be done.

So far the leg between YSNF - YLHI is going to be the biggest strain considering its 483nm between and my S300 has a max range of 435nm but I have increased my fuel load with the loss of a bit of un-wanted weight to keep things semi steady.

I am going to keep you all up to date with my progress right up until the day of the journey "lol I could depart an hour earlier and you would still beat me" hahahaha.

Well lads I did a trial flight of the longest leg of the trans tazzy endure flight I finished at 12:40am I dont recall the exact time I started but when ever I did it sure did take for ever but you can read my flight log on the NZFFAC site under the log book the sim time showed 4 hours and 3 minutes flying time and this was just one leg so I will have to pick up the pace if I want to meet my 8 hour time target.
