The POSKY B747 SP has been my toy of choice lately because it has some fine detailing.

It requires serious flight dynamic and ground handling tuning, but I love looking at its external bits

It's all about WHEELS and ENGINES and I am a sucker for both

It's going off my hard drive because of its handling issues, but thought I'd share the view.
Someone will no doubt patch it in due course.

I downloaded the same paint scheme as you charl, looks wounderful!

I took it for one flight, NZCH-NZWN. during taxi I considerd chucking it in cos I had stuters and teribly low fps (5-8) and my sim just looked absolutly terrible, at least the aircraft looked prety :P I decieded to continue but during climbout my nose gear didnt retract.

Not likeing the idea of going along at M072, FL210 I jsut fly a big circut around NZCH and landed again, I put the nose down at the slow speed of 80kias and it promptly sunk into the runway! "crash"

I also found it will often rear up (like a big elephant) when you start a flight and you get the "crash".

Before you delete it charl look in the 74sp's panel folder do yo uhave a mdl file called "OS747SP.mdl" whereas the .mdl in the model folder is called OS747SP_JT9D.mdl. Hmm intersting lol

Yeah I do have a stray .mdl file
Who knows what effect it might have? beyond me
What did happen is that after takeoff at NZWN I switched to spot view and the thing just...sank.
Nothing I could do would get it back up so the video I was doing gave way to a few screenshots.
Maybe some smart person will patch it because I reckon the engine detailing is fantastic.

Recent 'NZWING's' showed a SAA SP landin on a .. well what looked like a dirt airstrip (South Africa)only to park it under a tree for a Museum , .. eck i'll have to look at the Posky Hanger , and this plane is ideal for Welly :P maybe early model not tested properly :o :plane:

I wonder if the flying performance issue is something to do with FSX? I have this one installed only in FS9 and had no problems with the way she flys.

That would be Rand airfield in Johannesburg; it's not actually a dirt strip but it's an extremely narrow runway, only just wide enough for the 747SP.

Just shows in any event , any good pilot could put down anywere , another show of skill was in the late 80s with a 737 along a US motorway

I believe a 742 did the same thing a few months earlier, now that would be impressive.

The shots were made in FS9 ;) you can see why I'm hanging on to it, because despite all the addon textures I get very respectable framerates.

Fooled me! I thought those close up engine and landing gear shots were from that new FSX camera perspective! Are you using a special addon to achieve those angles?

Great Shots Charl. I used to fly POSKY all the time, though now I realise how off the flight dynamics can be. ;)
