Hi again,

This time we have released the VFR Tour, this tour will take you through 53 airports, most of them being the out-of-the-way strips that are rarely visited.

As with the IFR Tour, visit the Membership Dept. for more information. Its down the bottom-right of the page, under 'Kiwi Tours'. ;)

Just so everyone knows what to expect fromthis tour, I posted a few shots of my first leg, from Mount Cook to Waimate. I navigated down lake pukaki, then to oramarama, then along Lake Aviemore and the Waitaki River to Waimate. No GPS direct bull**** here! :

Passing Twizel, just south of Lake Pukaki

Overhead Oramarama, proceeding east now to Waimate

Heading towards lake Aviemore, on my way to Waimate.

Just past aviemore, getting nice and close to some high cliffs

Heading north now towards Waimate to join overhead runway 22.

Approaching the northern threshold of Waimate runway 22 at 1500ft. The airfield layout is incorrect if my 1998 AIP4 chart is still correct.

Touched down runway 22

Finished for the day.

I think the trip would've been funner if there were other VFR aircraft in the region on IVAO, especially if we got a voice channel set up so we could use position report with voice.

When you do this tour, I recommend that you navigate visually, e.g. whip out an Atlas or some NZ VNCs if you have them and choose a route using rivers and valleys - much more fun than heading straight for a VOR.

Also note how good the default C182 looks compared to the default C172!

See ya later guys, and get involved in the tour! >nzflag<

Thanks James, though usually in VFR the idea is NOT to fly through clouds, but to go around them ;) :P

I'm guessing CTRL+F9 hides IVAP? Cheers for that, I didnt know I could do that in the FSX version.
