Hi all,

I just got my ARNZ prize copy of FSX Duluxe edition today, and when I put DVD 1 into my drive, the autoplay runs but before I get to even entering the Serial Key screen, I get this message:

Anyone know why this is happening- google can't help me :(

I would appreciate help ASAP so I can install the new game,
Cheers!

Is the cd damaged at all? From memory I thought you had to enter the serial number after the instilation during when you first start up fs..

But seeing thats a file path maby that file is corupted or somethign..

Try it on anothor pc, at least just the starting of the installer ;)

Is your computer up to date ie have you SP2 installed

Cannot remember if / when serial number goes in but once loaded you can run as a Demo ie for 30 minute session without activating it.
Obviously once activated its unlimitited running

Nope, mint condition- only got it out the box this morning!

Sure is.

If you're got another DVD drive, try that?

I thought I would give it one more try on my machine, and it actually managed to get to the first screen after a lot of minutes waiting for it to load. I clicked next, but then this happened:

I clicked Retry heaps of times but the same error message popped up, I then clicked Ignore and this screen came up:

And thats as far as I got... any more ideas :(

Take it back to where you bought it from Trolly, and get a replacement. It's not unheard of for discs to be faulty from manufacture :) Try another set, there might be nothing wrong with your computer after all ;)

Have you tried turning off your Anti-virus Andrew
it took me 3 attempts to install FSX, turned off my anti-virus and it installed ok,
not sure if that was the problem tho!
make sure you have no other program running and also you are not online

I'll give it another go- pull out my internet connection, disable my firewall and anti-virus and see what happens this time.

Check for the obvious finger print on the dvd/cd.

I often have to remove the cd/dvd from the drive to clean it after it magically got a finger print on it or some other sticky substance.

Do you have Nero burning software?

If so it has to be deleted NOT just disabled
then try to install FSX

YAY! It worked :D It must have been ZoneAlarm casuing the problem. Everything is now installed, and I just took a flight from Ardmore to Auckland International, and with autogen off, I am getting about the same FPS as fs2004. Just one question, how can I make all the aircraft lines sharp, they are blurry at the mo (I thought anti aliasing sorted this out):

You need to look at your texture settings, make sure for aircraft they are at max, mips on as well. See how you go!
