Your flightdeck..

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Trolly I have A Dick Smith one too and it's OK but won't quite callibrate right, ggod enough but I got the Saitek for it's twisty action to give rudders and Anti Torque pedals for Helo flying,
I can't post a pic of my sim but it's CH Products,(all 3) 19 and 17 inch monitors, having 2 is a must, and of course my Saitek Cyborg Evo, which I use about half the time over my CH yoke and pedals and throttle quadrant, kind of ironic cos I wanted those CH products so bad and now I have them they spend half the time just sitting there looking good!

Hi guys,

Here's a quick photo just to show off my Flight Deck.

I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo twist handle joystick (I think Saitek are great). The two charts above the PC are enroute NAV charts for New Zealand, I also have Europe, Aisa, Far East, Australia, US, Canada to name just a few. I have a source at AirNZ you sends them down to me on a regular basis. Yes that's a Pacific Blue 738, which I've had the pleasure of flying on RL :D

Chris I am planning to upgrade to a Saitek Cyborg Evo twist handle joystick but someone has said hold of till the Vibration one arr here.

I did notice the plane over Dunedin in FSX being tossed around but would I feel it thru the stick espec to a $60 odd $ extra worth?

I've got a Cyborg 3D rumble joystick, it only cost me something like $40, to be honest the rumble can be quite annoying and pointless sometimes. I'm cruising in my Q200 and FL200 and if I have the "forces" on it just keeps rattling and really noisy etc...

Although its a nice feature to put the blood presure up during a tricky aproach :P but when I'm flying one of my normal 4fps approaches it just makes me more irritable

This is a few months old, but it looks much the same now, just a bit more clutter.

I really don't think I could stand having a rumbling joystick - the Cyborg Evo Twist is superb, I've owned it since December last year and haven't had any problems at all with it....I highly recommend it. There's so many buttons on the joystick you really don't need a keyboard

Moe there's been quite a bit of negative comments over force feedback joysticks in FS and even more if you like Helo's, totally unrealistic. I have a normal Saitek Cyborg Evo and it's fine the way it is. Save your money. I have the Buttkicker which attaches to the centre post on my chair and gets its info from the sound, works well. Also force feedback sticks are not only unrealistic for Flightsim, they break down and give up the ghost too, The simpler something is the less chance of a breakdown.

having to plug them into the wall is a pain too.
but having a force feedback wheel for driving games is important, because it allows you to feel the road, whereas you don't need to feel the air in flight sim

OMG, they (yoke&pedals) actually arrived!!!  Turns out that the track&confirm number I was given was NOT the one for this parcel... hence my inability to find out exactly where the frigging thing was!

Also, looking at the records, the guy actually posted it about 3 weeks AFTER he said he did... <_< now i have to sit and stare at the box until i get home tonight... :(

HCP - mate you don't look too good. You're a bit pale. You sure you feel alright.

I think you should go home. We'll have a word with the Boss and let him/her know you have to go home sick.

It may be contagious and spread to others in the office.

Here's Mine. Since the pic was taken i've moved the radio's and switch's to the right side of my "flightdeck". I'm looking at getting a flat screen as well as keeping the monitor i have now :D

edit: also i have my laptop sitting above me sorta, with "No Destination" it makes it easy to have a look at the airport before landing.

I work from home so I try and have everything relevent to my job close to me.
I use the XB360 when I do long haul flights, the second monitor is also hooked up to a laptop (hidden away) and the PSP for a little gaming on the go. Nintendo Wii and PS3 are behind me connected to a 20" TV and main PC sits to the lower left og the screen.
