Your Default Flight

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby ardypilot » Fri Feb 16, 2007 6:10 pm

Charl recently mentioned that his default startup location was Hokitika, as and mine is completley different from that, it got me thinking what everyone elses are set up like.

Mine is as follows:

Aircraft: Airhead A.C.A. Decathlon (ZK-CIT paint)
Airport: Timaru NZTU GA Parking (Robin Corn scenery)
Weather: Real world update
Time/Season: I know this changes every time you open FS, but it is saved as 7am, Summer

So what is yours set as?

I find KSEA is good cos if you just wana test an aircraft, its a suitible rwy for everything (well almost :P ) and the scenery gives a good test of the fps with that newly installed addon...

Looking forward to seeing what everyone has set then maby ill make my own custom one. :D

I should explain why Hokitika was default (the airport will change depending on what I'm doing): I was looking for a coastline north-south so you could get sea together with interesting landform, lit side-on by morning or late sun.
Given NZ's erm, colourful weather, RWW settings add to a good mix for screenshots.

It's changed since I made the comment - to Matamata.
This is a simple scenic area, gives a measure of horizon without eating frames, because I am busy with silliness videos involving half a dozen planes which stutter and blit if you pan through complex scenery.
Default plane is the Carter Mustang because that's what the game is about at present :D
Weather is None, until final playback. That way you stand half a chance of not flying up the lead plane's exhaust stack while all those clouds load up.
Time is 2 hours light side of darkness, be it morn or eve.

I like a place that doesn't take too long to load and has lots of airfields bunched together for touch and goes. Good for testing new aircraft. Florida, Texas (but very flat terrain) and Seattle are good but theree are heaps all over the place. NZ doesn't have many airfileds in a bunch. I love Real NZ Auckland but if I just want to test a new plane or Helo I want scenery that doesn't take long to load.

My hometown, NZCH on the runway. Presently an Embraer 120 in United Airlines colours is default aircraft. Fair weather, and current local time of day. :)

While I'm on the tour, at the end of each flight, I shut everything down, top up the fuel (assuming fuel is available) and save as default. Then I can continue where I left off. (sometimes I'll switch to a different plane though)

I'm currently using FS real weather, for the extra visibility in Oz, since I keep ActiveSky set to the lower visibility conditions of home.

Default Cessna 172 at Runway 11 in Roskilde Airport (my Local airport here in Denmark). Most of the time with Active Sky working in the background.

Interesting Trolly - you and I seem to be parked in the same place ! Then I used to live in Timaru so it's familiar territory.
