Any pilot who has a decent flying ability should be able to handel a "gust of wind" I have seen aircraft put down in winds gusting up to 40kts and they get it bang on the centerline.

I do not buy this explanation

i reckon, if it went 250m past the END of the runway, a gust of wind would have to be something near a hurricane to get it that wrong.

Then again, who are we to say that it wouldve been easy to stuff up

I dunno, Im confused now

sorry to keep bringing this up, but something's not right here...

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/st ... 01,00.html
"GIA200 wind calm check gear down and lock clear to land," was the instruction from the control tower, to which the Garuda pilots answered: "Clear to land GIA200."

[...]

Weather conditions, according to meteorological data notes compiled in the control tower, were good at the time of the crash: visibility was at least 5000m despite an amount of air haze and there were no wind gusts recorded.

getting the CVR transcript will tell the real tale

The video showed that there was no wind, prior to touchdown there was a comotion in the cockpit according to witnesses. I'm sure the black box would show that its probably pilot error at least thats the impression I get.
