great flight guys, thanks Jon for the server :D
I always try to disable as many programs as I can before I use FSX, it should help performance and annoying popups too.

and sorry again monkeybdg for my wayward vectoring (or lack thereof) :(

Twas a good evening, glad I wasn't controlling Auckland for the first 30 mins. Good Job Nik, Alex and Zoltuger on ATC. Some screenies from the evening..

I managed to escape early from NZAA

user posted image

Weather throughout was low viz, who made it that way

user posted image

I got in and out of Tauranga pretty quick knowing the traffic that was to come, still weather was so bad here that I missed my first approach and with 5 or so aircraft all close by, Zoltuger had his work cut out for him getting us in. In the end we had a number of aircraft having missed approaches in Tauranga due to poor visibility, naturally that just added to the fun Zoltuger had in the tower. That was laughter wasn't it Tim, not quiet sobbing?

Heading to Rotorua with the traffic mounting behind..

user posted image

Alex vectored me through the visual approach, which funnily enough was the same approach we flew landing at Rotorua Monday evening in the Q300...

user posted image

Turn around in Rotorua, topped up the tanks for the flight to NZAA as traffic arrived...

user posted image

Climb out from Rotorua using the grass runway. Did the same in Tauranga freeing up the main runway for arrivals.

user posted image

Heading back, at FL110 the visibility was still cr@p but we can just make out the Coromandel Peninsula below

user posted image

Weather broke once we got closer to Auckland. The Baron locked onto and held the ILS nicely, straight line right down to the tarmac, with the help of nice initial vectoring by Nik...

user posted image

And parked up at NZAA as people started arriving. Great flight.

The 'after match' in the Airworks hangar, sharing our stories and scheming for next week. :ph43r: Twas good to see jimmy on the server.

We hope everyone had a great time, thanks for coming. We are planning something a little different for next week based out of Nelson. Multiple aircraft this time, so it will mean a change from one aircraft type to another as we go, and hopefully be challenging and interesting enough to keep us coming back for more. Cheers.

haha, definite sobbing
i have a newfound respect for ATC, and can see why you'd get stressed out if that was your day job

Here are my shots of the evening

Departing 5R

Ian was cleared for takeoff in his Caravan a very short time after me - I hope he doesn't crash in to me!

user posted image
Apparently that won't be a problem - looks like I'm climbing a lot faster than him.

Hey Ian!

Approaching Thames

Thames, which IMO is rendered very well in FSX. I remember ZK-DFC (a Goose) was doing circuits here.

Touchdown at NZTG

Eek! Not much wingtip clearance

Departing Tauranga, and I was handed off to Roturua very early.

I asked Alex (RO TWR) what the circuit altitude was for RO...2000ft came the reply. Why not get down there early? Gives me a good excuse for some low flying

Nice shots guys, yea, was a good evening. Sorry if some of my messages didn't get through straight away, I'm used to pushing Scroll Lock to talk (I use it on IVAO), and with FSX its Caps Lock.

Good to see you got a few there jimmy. The V button is great, saves ram having a secondary program running to capture images
