as far as I know they use "kiwi" for missions and the aircraft rego for any other flight.. Can't remeber where I learnt that, but I think its correct.

Will have to wait untill they all get back from Omaka thow charl, to get an acurate answer :P

The callsign "Kiwi" is used when one specific missions and overseas. "Kiwi Rescue" is used by the Orions when on Search and Rescue missions.

Any other time within NZ:

Kingair's - "Kingair XX" (Acft number)
Iroquois' - "Iroquios XX"
Orion's - "Orioin XX"

Not sure about the Hercules', CT-4E's, Seasprites or the ugly Bells.

Towerguy should know though? :)

The Herc callsign is "Herc XX".

I've also heard the callsign "Kingair blue", someone on VATNZ told me this is for formation flying???

anything with a colour after it is generally a formation with each aircraft in the formation designated by number ie 4x A4's ( not anymore) would be Skyhawk blue and each aircraft would be blue1 blue2 etc.

Ct4's (-B when I flew them) are Trainer ie Trainer 69 etc
C130 = HercXX

when I have talked to the seasprites they usually call themselves 'seaspriteXX'

I'm pretty sure I've heard the Boeing 757s as 'BoeingXX', but I'm not 100% sure. I'll keeo an ear out next time I see one when I'm near a radio.
