Release Notes GNZLAP 5.0

The official Forum for the GNZLAP and Charl's other NZ AI addons

Postby ardypilot » Wed Apr 11, 2007 5:06 pm

Hi Charl.
In the GNZLAP50.zip readme, one of the instructions says:
5. Remove any previous GNZLAP traffic files:
Traffic NZ21.bgl
Traffic  NZ22.bgl
Traffic  NZ23.bgl
Traffic  NZ31.bgl
Traffic  NZ40.bgl
from the "\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\scenery\" folder. These are superseded by GNZLAP50.bgl

I can't find any of the NZ**.bgl's in my Scenery\World\Scenery folder, only the 'Traffic NZHELO.bgl' and 'Traffic GNZLAP40.bgl' files. Do I need to delete both of these and replace them with the GNZLAP50.bgl file?

Cheers,
Andrew

Leave the HELO file as it belongs to 10 Squirrels, remove GNZLAP40.bgl

Cheers. Have everything installed and setup now.

It was nice to fly into Paraparaumu this evening and be greated by the locals on the apron. A Massey Seneca and Cherokee, and a a bright red Helipro chopper up from Welly :D

Howdy Charl,

Thanks for a really great NZ AI pack. Just some FYI feedback (most of these points are aimed at 1st time users):

only the textures for Hama's Mitsubishi Pajero IO are included, the vehicle needs to be downloaded but there is no link provided in the Readme as to where it's available;

only the textures for the DHC3 are provided; there is no mention of having to download Eugene's Otter;

there is no information re: the included ai sounds (that is: why are they included, what benefit do they provide, how are they installed, etc cetera);

most of the PA-28 Arrow atc_id= 's will need editing, they still carry the original "Nxxxx" id.

These are NOT niggles (and, with a little bit of nouse can be easily nutted out :D ); it is a Really Great Job Well Done. Just alerting you to some possible questions from first time users.
Regards,
Dorian

Always good to hear from you Dorian, thanks for the good words.
Pajero base model for the GNZLAP airport spotter is only at Flightsim.com: pajeroio.zip.
While you're there, the Otter can be found by searching on "Eugene Heyart".
Install the base models first, then overwrite with GNZLAP by pasting the aircraft folder.

I'm keen to hear everyone's experience with the callsign mods.
The atc_id= line shouldn't affect what you hear, which would be e.g.
"Piper AKA" in the new 3-letter descriptor, or
e.g. at Palmerston North: "Massey xx" for the Massey Aviation fleet

I dropped the AI sounds in, because I have them on my rig, and they stop all AI sounding like a buzz saw.
There are separate flavours for the various categories of plane. So even your VOZ planes will sound better!
It just involves pasting the "sound" folder to FS9, along with all the others (as shown in the "Readme.doc". The WHAT?? :o ah yes... :P )
As always, back up anything you intend to overwrite!

Good to hear ...did ATC call the Seneca "Massey x"?

One gripe is the size of the download 58.1mb Bit of a waste of bandwidth to download what you already have installed with a 256kb connection its a 40minute download. Feel sorry for anyone of Dial Up :(

Could you not have split the package into seperate parts?

did ATC call the Seneca "Massey x"?

Nope, I have installed all the voicepack addons, but while I was there it was static on the ground not talking to ATC.

OK see if it goes off from NZPP at 21:45:00 or shortly thereafter.
Actually I think this makes all the difference to the feel of the sim, there are others like Great Barrier, etc, see "callsigns" folder.

I think Stewart Pearson is to blame, his Albert callsign package lit it up for me.
Thanks for the prod, Stewart!

But of course, ZK-KAG is the star of the show, since he did the voicepacks

Meh I bet you watched it all the time it was downloading huh?
Anyhow, glad you are enjoying all the little tweaks and fixes all over the package that are built into this release.
Hope in so doing there aren't too many new ones introduced :ph43r:

56kb dialup took almost 3 hours (and that was during NZ peak Internet time: 5-10pm). Seems Paradise.net averages 20Mb an hour.

If people want to contact us whilst I'm d/ling on dialup, they can reach us on our mobiles. ;)

Just had a flight around Welly- heard the 'Massey' callsigns over the radio.

Neat touch

Feel sorry for anyone of Dial Up

I used to be a dial-up GNZLAP downloader before I recently got broadband, and used to download large addons over-night for FS all the time!

I must say however, that it is well worth the wait as others at NZFF have already mentioned ;)

By the way, I'm on a 256Kbps plan and I'm sure it took me far less than 40 minutes to download pack 5 yesterday...

Hi Charl,

Great NZ AI download...a FS colleague of mine has expressed interest in the download...could you please confirm that he only needs to load the latest GNZLAP 50 pack to get the "addon" working??!!

FYI the NZPP Afcad that came with the latest download contains only three "parking" spaces...I have replaced this 2.12KB file with my previous 5.04KB file...plenty of aircraft now parked on the airfied!!

Cheers,

Bob R

Goodonya Bob, AFCADs are a dime a dozen and I'm sure a whole secondary industry will spring up to make and share many more flavours of the pesky things!
[I happen also to have a different one specially made for my strange setup, which I wasn't going to inflict on an unsuspecting world]
Mmm we should probably set up a trade 'n exchange through these forums, now that I think about it

To answer the question: Yes, GNZLAP 5.0 is standalone.

You'd only do this if you were deeply into flight planning.
Sunair have some missing bits/alterations, says guru Nunner.
Search and replace, or insert missing entries, as follows:
