Radar Contact

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby jastheace » Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:03 pm

Hi,

how many of us use this? and would you like to have some south pacific accents for the pilots and controllers? just gaugeing if people would like this or not. I for one would rather be controlled by a Kiwi or a Aussie than an American voice

thanks

I have been in contact with JD from radar contact, he has said the reason there is no New Zealaneder/Aussies in RC4 is because only 1 volunteered. i have offered my services for the next version. you need about 4 hours and a good mike and quite room. would anyone else been keen on helping with this, i guess the more we can get the more variety when can get

I use it it is very good, still not wonderful but if real life is 100% and default MS ATC rates at 50%-60% then RC gets in at about 80%-85%

I had a bit of a problem at first with RC talking to my AI but that is all sorted now.

Things I would like to see in V5 are

easier to start up rather than having to minimize FS to start then maximize again.

More had off's and hadon's e.g. " departure good morning New Zealand 426 is passing 500 for 5,000" and " Qantas 4125 contact tower now on 118.70 see ya "

There are no hadons ( if that is what they are called  ) and had offs are used only about 25% of the time.

Also more thinking my the controllers would be good i.e. if it is not required for you to fly a certain SID then let the ATC cancel it don't make the pilot request is.

But overall this is a great product.

Regards, Scott

I don't use this program, don't like the defualt atc at all, procs around New Zealand are very poor, if I have to fly offline I just fly uncontroled, unless im really bored!

Just what do you mean by handon? as far as I know there are only handoffs...

If they need a volunteer for soundpacks then im happy to offer my services :) (do we get a free copy of the program? hehe)

By handons I mean things like 'tower good morning" rather than just "tower"

I have been in contact with the RC guys a few times and at this stage I don't think they are looking for voices, they may though when they start getting ready to launch V5.

Also there are only 2 airport which have had there name recorded Auckland and Wellington, all the rest are referred to as NZCH, NZQN ect

yup, JD the head developer has said that they want more voices, so heres hoping, he was going to contact me when they are requiring voices, he said once the coding for v5 had been done. we might even be able to get our airports named right!!!

Hi guys,

JD has said that he will be looking for people about the end of the year, depending on coding, but he seems to be looking forward to having some more variety in the voice packs
