Some old Concorde pictures

25 years ago my father won a contest in a Danish newspaper. The prize was to get into Copenhagen Airport and see the Concorde when it made it's first visit to Denmark. It was G-BOAE (one of the British Airways Concordes which was chartered by some rich persons to take them from London to Copenhagen due to a 1-day visit in the Danish capital).

Well... My father and my Mother went to CPH. My father had 2 cameras with him. A SLR and a good old APS-camera. My mother got the APS and my Father took the SLR and took many great pictures. And today he still is very proud of the pictures he took at the visit (my Mother too).

2 years ago I began scanning the pictures to the digital world. I uploaded 3 af them to various airplanephoto sites (airliners.net and jetphotos.net).

Wow cool great old shots


I have has the chance on 2 occasions to go inside Concorde (once on Concorde #1 (it is now kept at the Airbus factory) and one at Boeing field in Seattle) and it is a weird aircraft small windows very narrow and no in-flight entertainment

Hehe. Yes. That was a big surprise for both my mother and father how narrow the cabine is. Very small and not that long. My father even told me, that he was a bit dissapointed when he saw is taxiing toward the crowd. It is actually rather small aircraft. But on the other hand he stil think it's one of the most beautiful aircrafts in the world.

Thankyou Johan , Pleased U posted these old photo's for all . the Concorde was a regular flyover across my home using 29 as guide before turning on to 02/20 , and went it turned from a distance it look'd the pilots got feed up and did a hi/G downwind for the runway ! , but really is just distance that changes perspective .... Thought , have old NZCH photos to add to your collection , and maybe some new old photos , only now getting devolpded , i lost a roll off film years ago , don't even own camera thats uses film anymore

Cool photos though. I remember the Concorde coming to NZAA back in 1986. It flew right over my old man's work on approach. Very cool to see up close like that - especially as I was only 8 year old at the time.

Yeah Ian. Those old pictures could be very funny and interesting to see. I have been in NZCH once, so I can recall how the airport looks like.

Concorde's 1st visit to Christchurch , almost 20 years ago and its hard to beleive the crash was in July 2000 killing 109 .
It was a site , photo'd nose to tail and as you can see , all with there camera's Was a open day for all and of course no small show is without this bueaty but then on saying that it broke down , away with Taffy Muzzie's
Check that 748 out , I heard rumour that it was concorde pax complain about the fact they had to climb on bourd an old clunker .. fact was the 748 was newer than the concorde airframe nice excuse to by something new

and now to its restin place for all to see

I after a visit to NZCH , April 12 1989 the flight continued to Syndey were on approach control said to speedbird .. you have lost half your tail ! ...

Was that the Concordes only visit to NZCH? I seem to remember going to the airport to see something important when I was about 8 or 9 (Would've been late 1990s), I'm fairly sure it was a Concorde but I'm probably wrong

Had many Visits , even an AIR FRANCE .. you could also be right

I can't find ANYTHING about Concordes visting NZCH apart from 1989 and 1991 >_<

When was the last concorde visit to NZ? Anyone know?

I was very lucky once to be in the right place -I was standing on top of building in Akl near the approach path when I heard this roar - looked up and there was an Air France Concorde (diverted from Chch apparently) only time I have seen one.

I remember seeing a BA Concorde parked at Heathrow when I was boarding a flight to NZ in 1999, and have also been inside the parked one inside Duxford. Don't have any decent photos though.

Yes Ian. Very interesting pictures. I can see the Concorde was a regular visitor to NZ. I have to say that it's not the same with Denmark. I have heard of 2 visits in Copenhagen, one in Aarhus, one in Aalborg and one in Billund. It has also been in Greenland once.
