Alinghi only got the Americas cup because they stole our skipper and tactical guy but still it should be close races i think we will win 5-4 or 5-3

It makes me laugh when people start thinking that other countries steal our citizens. These people choose to go, they dont get stolen. Anyway, I hate yachting, sport of rich b@stards, I wish they would all just fall in.

ah that time again is it, so they got a stronger mast?

lol na would be nice to see them win, I remember the last one, Mum had us doing a project about the americas cup, whatched the races and stuff, was damn funny when they lost like that, mast braking, ahaha

But no, I wont be whatching any races

I feel that the racing in the America's cup is going to be close. I suspect that Alinghi may have better speed in a straight line but our boat handling will probably be better especially under pressure. GO ETNZ!!!

I think Alinghi's got the package, they'll be phenominally tough to beat.
And yet, for some reason I want them to win- taking the cup from Europe seems like such a shame, they've got the money and can develop the sport, do so much more than Auckland could ever. A better event when it's in Europe.

I was in Auckland while the Louis Vuitton was on back in '02. Got the hat and everything. Then it blew off while I was in the Bay of Islands! Sums it up really!

OUTRAGED

If we win it, it will go to show that Europe hasn't got what it takes to develop the sport full stop. Lets see, how did the cup get to Europe in the first place , thats right is was KIWIS that gave it to you.

I get the impression that money is wasted on the sport over there, compared to the cost we spend and how far we as a small country have brought it to you so far.

A high percentage of all the crews on those boats are KIWIS, some of the European boats are designed by KIWIS, christ we might just as well be sailing against ourselves.

Now thats why we are ranked as the best sailers in the world. We have the lastest technology, most advanced skills and pedigree such as Sir Peter Blake and the list goes on. Im betting it will stay that way for some time to come regardless of the Americas Cup outcome.

Thats my red socks worth!

Hear hear!
Certainly for us living around Auckland it provided a huge buzz.
Last time round, we would watch the racing on TV, have Virtual Spectator always running in a window on the work PC, and when the tension got too much, jump in a car and watch the whole thing live from the East Coast Bays!
Plus gives us worldwide exposure, with investment opportunities opening up, boosts our boatyards etc etc. Er, did I mention Tom Cruise is my neighbour as a result?
It's a truly international happening now, and I love it when the best in the world watch that Kiwi boat sail away into the distance, never mind the weather.
Alinghi better be damn good to give us a little entertainment in the America's Cup races.
