Emergency at Auckland

A full emergency has been called at Auckland International Airport as it prepares for the arrival of a Boeing 737 that has blown a tyre.

Probably Qantas because they use the 737's mostly over the tasman between Brisbane.

Hmm Im not so sure, as they dont have a scheduled service for these times.. :unsure:

I cant find an airline that operates a 737 at this time on this route...

What source are you using Alister, when I look (at OAG), I can only see an ANZ B772 arriving at 1730, then a QFA B733 at 2230. :unsure:

Will be interesting to see the details of this as more information comes to light. :)

I think they must have the facts wrong... :ph43r:

The only flight that matches the departure and arrival times is the Air NZ B777 flight NZ6... It was also 30mins late arriving.

Not a good month for Air NZ if it them... :unsure:

It was a DHL cargo 727 from Sydney, I work at Kaitaia airport and the flight crew had to hold due to not enough fuel to hold at auckland.

Ive just got information that on departure from Sydney, the DHL 727 had debris come off its landing gear. Sure enough on landing one of the wheels on the left gear deflated... No big deal really... :P

I was listening to the AA ATC a while ago and the DHL/Asian Air Express 727 requested to return to the airport shortly after taking off; I never did find out why.

Definitely not Wellington, its a more dangerous approach/shorter runway. They'd want the biggest rwy possible wouldn't they? Also i heard somewhere Wgtn is NZ's busiest airport (i MAY be wrong!) so it would disrupt more flights..

Apparently the flight had horses :huh: :blink: and about 9 POB on board...

My wife was a little concerned as she thought they may close puhinui road (as they're supposed to in the 'action plan')... so that ambulances have clear access to/from Middlemore...

she was just passing by the interchange with the SW motorway talking to me on the phone when a couple of ambulances whizzed by heading for NZAA...

An Air New Zealand San Francisco flight from Auckland was forced to turn back after four hours in the air, when the pilot detected vibrations from the engine.

Flight NZ8, carrying 303 passengers landed safely back in Auckland, where the passengers were then taken to hotel rooms to await safety checks on the craft.

A spokesperson announced that whilst it was not an urgent safety issue, the engine still needed to be checked, so the decision was made to return to the airline engineering base rather than continue its journey.
