Name That Plane !

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby A185F » Fri Sep 21, 2007 5:54 pm

Okey dokey fallas although some version of this may have already been done on here (sorry not sure) I thought it be appropriate to crank out a good old fashioned "Name That Plane !" quiz. Just like the one on airliners.net and like the ones on pprune like "What Cockpit ?" (of which I am a keen contestant and was doing well untill it got really hard like naming the cockpits of planes that were single build prototypes made in places like Uzbekistan in the early 70s that never actually flew and only a few people knew of their existence).

So anyway if you haven't played before, it goes a little some thing like this:

I will post a picture of a plane and the first person who Identifies it correctly gets to post a pic of another and so on ad so on.

It also be a good idea to save your pictures on a site like photobucket if you scab them off the Internet so people can't just go to the page of which the picture is linked to and find out. Also if you scab of jetphotos or airliners, crop the black line at the bottom with the photographer info e.g "COPYRIGHT Nigel Nofriends AIRLINERS.NET" so people don't go and look up Mr Nofriends's profile find the photo then cheat. NO CHEATING !

I'll get the Ball rolling with an easy one.

Hmmm, Definately Russian, pic probably taken at Taganrog (they've got a lot of weird and wonderful stuff out there)... Looks like some kind of Ekranoplan development.

I think A185F is right; once upon a time it had wings and didn't look quite so odd as it does in it's current state.

Ok I not all that good at explaining but in short the pic needs to be one the internet with an address (i.e http://www.blabla.com/images/weeplane.jpg) you need to copy that address and put it into the box that comes up when you click the "Insert Image" button which is about the 5th one along the top of where you write your post. If it's not on the net got to somewhere like photobucket.com set up yourself an account then upload the pic on there and get the address/link that way.

I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

Welcome to the forum by the way, crank out your intro Here.
