Yea the main issue is gettin ur hrs up to something above 2500 i think for ANZ. I'd work as an instructor for free cos it's a really gr8 way of gettin hours up. Alternately Join the RNZAF But u may not be so keen on it.

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

Re the part-time job paying for PPL, I'm in the same boat. Mind you, I have a full-time job anyways, but am a) doing my PPL and 2) building a full-scale flying WW1 replica. So every bit of cash counts.

To be honest dude there is just no shortcut way into the jumpseat in aviation,

Im studdying my PPL CPL, nightflying, instriment* (bad spelling) raeting, single and multi and even after im all done and dusted its only entrance to the gate! my plan is to head back over to america with my wife to be and from there ill fly small charter's up around north Idaho to build my hours...Its a long haul i hear but we pilots dont fly for the $$$ we fly because its what we LOVE! and then if i did turn my attention back to NZ it's a tight squeze! i mean come on look at the possibilities? ANZ maybe but you better have the best of the best, with virgin blue coming into play yea they will hire a few more but just look at the history of NZ aviation? ANZ have always rulled and the others have done well but never have gone the distance, smaller cheaper companys simple crumble under the pressure and demands of the industry, its a tuff one to be in i wont denie that! every up and coming pilot should have a Goal in mind, mine is to be be captain of a mighty magestic 747-400 but prob by the time i get there (40+) they will all be phased out, but have a goal and set it, enjoy and learn with great knowledge every aircraft your assighned to! at this time United Emirites are crying out for pilots all over the area, not bad life style either and china will demand another 50,000 pilots in the next 10years, the aviation world is our oyster if you endure and stick at it!

Cheers all, good luck with the studys mate! oh and what did i do as a part time job? didnt, as much as i hated it i worked at the freezing works and saved a good $55k to give my self and my fiancie a head start, even then ill have a chunky student loan but i dont give a RIP about that, as long as im on my way im happy New_Zealand_etc.gif

Good luck to all fellow students! We need it LoL

That's an impressive amount to save FunkymonkeyNZ!

What's the pay rate like at the freezing works?

I was thinking of heading to Europe, getting a 'frozen' ATPL and trying to get into Ryanair or Easyjet, then coming back here later on.

Um depends on what department you work in, they trained me up to become a beef trimmer, which is fairly mundane work, just Looong hours, somedays we were doing 12 hour days, and thats a long time to be on ya feet working in a giant chiller! Yea so i guess most weeks i was pulling in about 1000-1200 a week, sounds very nice i know but i you deff need to keep reminding your self each week about why your there!!! LoL
