Vulcan Bomber

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby Nunner » Fri Oct 19, 2007 6:56 am

For those who missed it on Sky UK news this morning the Vulcan has flown again and looks
bloody magnificent.
Plans are to get her on the show circuit next year so if you have never seen one or heard one get the UK show dates to coincide with your oe.
There is nothing that compares with the Vulcan.
Cheers

Looks amazing- but doesn't it cost about 700 pounds an hour to keep it airbourne?

Where did you see that ?
I would say it would cost many many many times that amount, perhaps everybody donates everything.

EDIT:
After some reasearch I found that for the 20 min test flight it burned in excess of £1,000 of fuel. "It will cost an estimated £1.6 million a year to keep in the air and available for viewing by members of the public."

So as a per hour number after all the fuel, maintiance, insurance and everything it would cost squillions !!!!! So everybody start donating to help keep her in the air ! clapping.gif
