When entering your route on the page where you put in, just say WGN and you push 1L (if it's the first entry) etc.

What I want to know is what do I put in the scratchpad to enter the following. A VOR Via A Jetway (here' what I need to enter)

LBF via J10.

Here's my full route.

ORD1.IOW J10 LBF.SAYGE6.

I just need to know how to enter the jetway but if someone can tell me how to enter the full route I'd be thrilled (it's for my UVA Cat III Checkride)

Its what you would do-

First go to the Depart/Arrive Page and find that ORD1 Departure. Then go to the route page and enter-

On the Right put IOW- Your flying direct there for your first Waypoint
Then on the Left put J10, then on the same line on the right put LBF
Then finally, back to the Depart Arrive page and but in the SAYGE6 Arrival!

When I try pushing in J10 and entering it in the left where the dotted line is (this is before anything else, just after the SID) it says INVALID ENTRY

Does the airway actually intersect the VOR/Waypoint, or does it simply pass 'over' it. If it doesn't intersect the fix, then you won't be able to fly onto the airway from the fix.

I can do that now but now I can't insert my CRZ altitude in the CRZ page so allow for a VNAV Approach and descent etc.

From memory, your cruise altitude goes into the PERF page. Is there some sort of manual that came with the FMC? That would help answer your questions as well probably. winkyy.gif

Oh, and regarding the airway there, in almost all cases you can't put the airway first. You have waypoint on the left, then airway on the right, then next waypoint underneath the first on the left, then next airway on the right etc.

If its a payware aircraft with Payware FMC- Read the Manual. It will tell you in more detail...

Also, keep in mind that in most cases VNAV won't actually change the altitude for you. You set the altitude on the autopilot on the glareshield and VNAV works to achieve and maintain that altitude. VNAV can tell you when to stop climbing and start descending, but if you are at your TOD and still have altitude set on 36000, you won't be going down anytime soon.

You'd need to actually set the altitude lower before the TOD, then when passing the TOD VNAV will start taking you down towards that altitude etc. VNAV can also be a bit picky, so make sure you get it right when entering in data at the preflight stage. winkyy.gif

It's the Wilco 733 so not that good a manual.
I will change and use the PMDG 737NG.

Anyway I'll do a "refresher flight" this afternoon.
What would be a good route for NZWN - NZAA (e.g. XXX JXX XXX etc.)

Well, Mabye cut away from the Realism slightly and fly a Scenic route- Mabye from Wellington Up the East Coast for a change, cut back in to Tauranga, then fly a STAR into 23L

For routes, look for the 'Standard Route Clearances' in the NZ AIP, not only is it a good source of routes, it's what is mostly used for scheduled operations in the real world as well. winkyy.gif

Just go to the section 'Aerodrome Charts' - select the departure airport from the dropdown menu, and then 'Standard Route Clearances'

rgr.
Just finished my flight.
Went awesome. I sort of stuffed up the VNAV so it didn't work to it's full potential. Did a Visual runway 23L RNAV Approach (which is the one I have been on most times on the WGN-AUK flight)
Tell me if you want me to upload screenies

Usually on the last couple of pages for each aerodrome in the Vol 2/3

On the AIP website, if you navigate to the aerodrome page (e.g Taupo), it's usually pretty apparent where they are (i.e it says 'Standard Route Clearances').

Go to the Depart Arrive Page, Select the Runway and It should come up with the Depature, same for the Arrival. If its not there, go to the Navdata website and download all the SIDS/STARS- There free!

Cr@p I worded it wrong. What do I put in the FMC after the titahi bay departure and before the visual rnav approach.
