Hi all, I've been really impressed with the Vistaliners repaints by Dan Mitchell, so thought I would showcase a flight in one to show him how I am enjoying it biggrin.gif This is on Flight Sim X this time, which I am also enjoying.
I flew to Auckland and back yesterday for work, lucky enough to get the Thomson Fly 737 up, and FRE back. This is the simulation of my return flight.

Shot 1: We left from gate 28, this is us beginning taxi to 05R

Shot 2: I was lucky enough to land on 05R as well, the harbour heads in the distance are really beautiful to fly over!

Shot 3: Climbing out from 05R, only thing missing from the default scenery is "GO ALL BLACKS" on the hanger door laugh.gif

Shot 4: Climbing out further into the clouds, and then shot 5, above them

Shot 5:

Shot 6: Taranaki was very cloudy today (stunning yesterday in real life) so I didn't get to see much, just the top of the mountain..

Shot 7: Abel Tasman National park and Farewell Spit as we fly over Tasman Bay

Shot 8: Hi to Brock and my family down there in Nelson

Shot 9: Lake Rotoroa and Rotoiti and about to begin descent from F360

Shot 10: Over the Canterbury plains now, and preparing for the visual arrival to runway 02.

Shot 12 and 13: Moments before touchdown and the smoke on meeting the runway

Shot 14: And parking up at the gate, only 2 minutes late biggrin.gif

Great stuff- FSX looks actually really realistic in your screenies there, unlike most of the other ones I have seen.

Gotta love that repaint!

This flight has been operated for Virtual Air New Zealand, thanks for flying with me. Vistaliners repaint thanks to Dan Mitchell biggrin.gif Vistaliner 733 into FSX thanks to Daniel Watson - VANZ

OK, What are your specs and what FPS were you getting? If I can get this with about 25FPS then I'm spending what I've saved right now on FSX and hardware (the car can wait tongue.gif ). Would I get this from A dual Core Processor (AMD Opteron or something) Which I already have, a 512MB Graphics card and 2-3gb ram?

Oh, and probably some of the best un-edited NZ screenshots I have ever seen.. biggrin.gif
After seeing these shots, and some of the repaints over on ARNZ, Microsoft might be about to make another sale..

Thanks guys! I have FSX locked at 35fps, and that's what I get!
System specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 (2.13ghz), 2gb ram, Win XP home, Gforce 7950GT 512mb.
The intel chip is a big thing, and the gfx card is good enough to run fsx well.
The important thing to stress is that FSX before SP1 was pretty awful. I got VERY average fps .. but.. with a fresh install and SP1 straight after it, FSX rocks!!
FPS depends on many things, but in the Level D 2d cockpit I get about 28 fps- 30 fps steady. Default planes in 3d cockpit, around 30-32fps.

I can't recommend the Intel Core 2 Duo highly enough. They are probably less expensive now than when I bought it...

Actually, I paid $500 for my 6400 chip, the 6550 is now $250 (pricespy), and for $400 I could get a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, 3.00GHz!! My 7950GT cost me $540, and today you can get "Geforce 8800 GT, 512MB, PCI Express" for $447.
(my 7950gt 512 is today only worth $370 new)

If anyone wants to know my settings in game, I'll be happy to post them up smile.gif

Also, NZ in summer clothes by Microsoft is very green. It's just like FS9 (with default winter that is a bit too brown). But, from flying the route for real yesterday, and then on the sim, FSX has got it right. The mountains on the north/ east coast of the south island ARE very barren. Extremely so. It looked like I was flying over the Nevada desert again..
Of note with these screenshots is the free 75 mesh is installed, and the payware NZ topo.
Cheers

No problem, I think Alister should delay his return flight until my next upload which is only a day or two away >nzflag<

Oh you shall! :D I've done the Auckland - Christchurch trip a number of times lately (3) in real life, including last weekend on Pac Blue, so I'm sure simulating another run can be done. Look forward to something blue sometime Dan :D

Nice ones there! You don't know if theres FRE for the PIC 737?
I run FSX and get really good performance on a probably medium/high machine I think the problem alot of people make is forgetting SP1 and SP2 they really do make a difference.

Yep awesome screenshots Alister thumbup1.gif
The repaint is very nice, and so is the model and so is FSX but it's screenshots like these that really bring out the best in stuff like that.
Almost forgot to mention how nice FRE was as well. winkyy.gif
