Avsim downloads are faster.

I much prefer Flightsim.com, but that's probably just because it's the one I visited first, and I've been a forum member there for a long time so I'm more used to it.

I dont like the attitude the AVSIM "Library Managers" have towards uploaders its getting more like the atmosphere of having a bunch of the old MOT officers on the roads again if anyone here is old enough to remember the MOT that is  Incedentally does anyone know what the results of this years AVSIM readers awards were? Cant fnd any reference on thier site to them at all and we were nominated for the SAAB :o

Is that with 1st class membership? I've just downloaded 6MB at 29.4KB/s followed by 5.3MB from Avsim at 222.2 KB/s

No with Firefox's "DownThemAll" Addon. I get up to 500kb/s with Flightsim and about 50 with Avsim.

I started with flightsim, and downloaded a lot, and use to follow the forums, I found though that their forums aren't as active as avsim, plus a lot of the payware guys have the forums at avsim. Being able to stay logged in at Avsim is great for downloads as well, as I hate the login system for flightsim.

Agreed that they both could do with an upgrade, but then again I find most sites when they upgrade make it harder to navigate - go figure.

One thing looking at their "rivalry" wouldn't it be need to have a competition like the around the world, but maybe around Australasia and find a full blown Aussie forum to compete against. Something like start at Perth, and fly to Invergiggle with various stipulations along the way.

Start on a Friday night, surely we should be able to get NZ within a weekend, especially since there would be some people overseas that visit these forums.

Just a thought.
When asked what I have contributed to on this earth my reply will be my daugther

Yes the login procedure at Flightsim is a real pain, especially when you go back to be told something or other about nodes.
Both sites are in dire need of an upgrade.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

I wonder what sort of percentage of folks subscribe to the premium services at both sites. I musta downloaded
hundreds of files from the two places, startn to feel a bit guilty. ;) I guess they get some sponsored ads and
what-not
