Kiwi History

I thought i would share one of my favourite planes of all time. i would love a payware version someday.

The USAF Lockheed C-141A and B used to do the heavy haulage duties in the 70's in support of the US and Allied expeditions.

Just love the design!!

I found this freeware for fsx at fsfreeware. Great sound and she opens up at the back. Only 7MB so i didn't expect much but still good for what it's worth.

Naturally only 2-D but what a craft. i have always loved the Starlifter, she is up there with the B-24 Liberator! Classic big girl.

Slowly starting to piece together planes with a history to New Zealand, please feel free to show your 'kiwiana' classics as well.

Crikey I have heaps - I don't know where to start! From Bristol Fighters to Boeing 767s - from Mustangs to Orions.

Down to Antartica?

I won't post my 'kiwiana' shots here either, as that is pretty much what every single post I have made in the screenshots sub forum contain (exluding a few more recent collections ;) )

MMM ... The Lookheed C141A/B/C Starlifter , Anyone here recall the 'NZBC' TV broadcast interlude -a silver prototype , but very similar to early 68/70 based out at Christchurch :o short movie with music to fill time in the early days of New Zealand Broadcasting ! (1960's - 1973 MATS ) ....................

The sound and the smoke of the very early batch's/arrivals .. even with GLOBEMASTERS on the grass
................................................................................
............................................
livery when changed to 1972/74 MAC white/grey livery .. which stuck till early/mid 80's ................................................................................
.............................................. with devolpment off the stretched B in Euro/lizard scheme , mmm the Starlifter ... to walk around , get in the gear bays ..... and getting told to get out .. WHOOPS and having that solider/ACM or ? to be walked ........... by officer
................................................................................ I was allowed to stay and play
..............................................
To get back on flight deck , Terry :) was her name ! the plane captain .. 3 missions in the Gulf , asked her ( this Girl WAS MMMMM ) what was the question again ... off course - inflight refuelling <_<
...........................................................................
From the original A variant , 271 units to the B stretched to equal near 80 further units to the Glass/HD/display of the C ....
..................
These Aircraft Lived at Christchurch during the Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica , one loosing it s UC on landing at NZCH in 1979 .. the same year it was used to rush rescue units and recovery for the Erebus DC-10 crash . .....
..........................................................................
My final thought .. The sound and the smoke of the very last departure , you could still see the aircrafts smoke 15/20 minute later as it headed south , that was the end off the season 2 years ago

Okay here are my favourite aircaft that have or are living in Kiwiland

Mustang:

& Chippy both fantastic warbirds & both would be in more RL warbird collection if I had the dosh. The Mustang has more a Kiwi collection through its use with the RNZAF in the 1950s (and now a high profile warbird in NZ) but the Chipmunk is very popular with warbird/vintage pilots in NZ.

Not all of it is just AI. In fact, most of it i have both AI and flyable versions of the aircraft.

Yes, Deanes Fletcher is an absolute essential for us Kiwi simmers !!
The NZ Retro-AI packs are right here on NZFF.
See my NZ Retro-AI and NZ Airport Sceneries sub-forum here...... http://nzff.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=30
Look at the top of the page under the heading NZ Retro-AI packs 1 and 2.
The F-27 Friendship models in the pics are both flyable and AI. The AI model is Dee Waldron's , with our own custom NZ paintjobs, and the flyable model is Mike Stone's, with custom NZ paintjobs done by Dan Hayward at my request.
Seeing as how Mike Stone's site is now gone, PM me with your e-mail addy, and i will e-mail the flyable F27 to you, and the different NZ paint jobs i have for it, and a nice Rolls Royce Dart soundset for it as well.
