Yeah there is something not quite "right" about that aircraft, looks like a wannabe Meteor sometimes.
It was just too late to see real action after WWII, and then was swamped by the jets.

Sorry I have to correct you Charl - the Whirlwind was developed in the 1930s and enetred service in the early 40s but for mainly reasons to do with problems with the engines it wasn't put in wide scale service - otherwise it was a good aircraft. Only two RAF squadrons operated it.
