...plus it would be good to get a lot more votes -- with 667 members I'd like to see at least 300 votes:)
I was looking for a way to gauge the FSX takeup, but there isn't much to go on. One thing which interested me though were the AVSIM download figures for Coromandel, where the two versions were released within hours of each other:
FS2004 -- 563
FSX -- 1001
...which means FS2004 = 36%, FSX = 64%.
FSX is certainly forging ahead, and fS2004-only folk may be left behind.

Lol, i was so excited until i put it on my pc and it lagged like heck, so i used fs9, my PC is newer but still cant run it smooth, if i go mountainviewing in the alps ill get about 25 on high detail, but in cities its slow.

PC:

Vista Home Premium
AMD Athlon X2 2.0GHz (Dual Core) 5000+
4gb DDR2-800 RAM
256mb GeForce 7600GT
320GB HDD
.....

So my pc is pretty good, but when i get a 8 series card it should be fine.

I only play FS9 but will get FSX one day - probably much later in the year.

The poll is missing an option in my opinion. I personally don't play FSX at all because I don't own it. So technically, I'd be expected to tick Carry on playing FS9, I am never going to get FSX.
Although I'd be a pretty narrow-minded simmer to say "I am never going to get FSX. I will get it some day. That part is inevitable. It's just I don't currently have the hardware to run it.

I wasn't sure which option to tick, which is why I haven't voted.

I'm in this category right now, but plan to get a new computer next month and buy FSX then. I couldnt even run the demo on my present rig.
