Whitianga Airshow Feb.23

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Ok, this has been posted at Dave Homewood's site Wings Over Cambridge:

So - the question is, see you there? For the warbird fan this looks like the one to go to rather than Tauranga (if, like me, you're likely to only make one)

Wow that looks way more impressive than the Tauranaga line up!

Would anyone be flying there from Ardmore and have a spare seat by any chance? :P

I'm already locked into the Tauranga one for work reasons, and also it's in my 'backyard', so will definitely be going to that one. Whitianga is a bit more out of the way for me, and probably two airshows in two weeks will be a bit of overkill for me... :wink2:

Q300, I may just take you up on that! I'd like to say I'll get some mates together to share the cost but unfortunately my mates here don't give a toss about planes.... :( I'll PM you with my mobile number.

Trolly, that it does! Would be great to meet up with you if you're going.

Turns out that the Warbirds DC3 will be, $100 return from NZAR. Contact the captain here if you are interested!

does that include entry to the airshow? or is that just for the Dak? Either way... that seems like an awesome way to arrive :D

Havn't heard any mention of that, but I don't mind paying an extra $20 seeing as I'll be getting a scenic flight over the Coromandel peninsula on the way there and back! More info here.

I was thinking Ardmore. I put out an appeal for info on Wings Over Cambridge as the word was Feb 5 arrival, but there's been sweet FA unfortunately.

And Sam/Q300 - What's the go dude??

Have we got any spies at Ardmore? ;)

I was quite miffed about missing the test flight of the last one there (the one that then got shipped to the US). Opportunities like that are so *rare* - they ought to be publicised/shared.

apparently the spit has been impounded at US customs and will not make any Airshow Apperances this year.

Adam.

The DAK is also running a flight to the Ohakea open day :

DC-3 has been especially invited to attend Ohakea - and we are flying down first thing on Sunday morning - 16th March.
There will be lots of action - and likely to be some variation in aircraft and group flypasts.

$120 for Owners and Dakota Club members, or $170 for others/for anyone who wants to join the Dakota Club. Dakota Club is valid for 12 months - newsletters, good fares to airshows and charters.

Contact Jessica or Sharon 09) 479 1379 or flydc3@paradise.net.nz
Details are being sorted in the week bewteen Tauranga and Whitianga airshows.
