Seriously Scary Crosswind Landing - Video

This video was recorded earlier today (European time) and is probably the scariest crosswind landing I have ever seen that didn't end in a crash. According to the METARs for Hamburg at this time the wind was gusting to around 45 knots or so. Hopefully the video isn't removed - it was on Youtube earlier but disappeared very quickly.

I don't normally pay too much attention to these "omg crazy landing" videos because they usually aren't that dramatic, but that one really is pretty spectacular.

Wow what an approach.
Looks like it might be Lufthansa (it has a blue tail and grey underbelly), plus its in Germany.

There was a discussion about this on Airliners forum and a photo of it was dismissed as a fake but this proves wrong
I actuly thought the pilots were able to keep it on the ground

Looks like my attempt to land at Welly last night! Must have been a thrill ride for some (I say some as in 2 or 3 people )

It looked like the left wingtip hit or was very close to hitting the tarmac!

Ill agree with Peppermint. Looked almost identical to my -800fpm landing just then in Wellington- you say? It was only a 1900 so dont worry

Theres a few more here showing wellington, that video of the Luthansa flights quite a disturbing video I never noticed the winglet fall off.

Amateur video footage, played repeatedly on German television, showed the Airbus A320 buffeted by crosswinds and driving rain as it landed on Saturday at Fuhlsbuettel airport near the northern German port city.

Winds were reported to have reached 250km an hour.

The plane approached the asphalt runway at an odd angle, then swerved sharply before touching down, with one of its wings scraping the ground. The pilots averted disaster by quickly taking off again, going into a so-called go-around manoeuvre.

"Just before landing, the plane was hit by a very strong gust of wind that led to the left wing touching the ground very briefly," said Juergen Raps, Lufthansa executive vice president of operations.

"The pilots reacted outstandingly by inducing a go-around."

No passengers or crew were injured and the plane, which had taken off from Munich, circled for about 10 minutes before landing safely on another runway.

Gale force winds caused chaos in Germany and other central European countries over the weekend, killing several people and causing power cuts as well as major travel disruption.

Flights across Germany were cancelled, diverted or delayed.

Also I noticed on the news they showed an A330? instead of an A320 when stating the aircraft is now back in service
