NZDN_APP? Its a procedual control tower - no such thing as approach.. 122.4 I think youll find is the standby frequency used in situations whereby 120.7 becomes U/S or when Surface movement control and Aerodrome control get split between controllers (very uncommon).

Check out VATSIM's new Airspace register. Its got everything you need to know about each controller position and corresponding frequencies to use.

Yes, you're absolutely right. I didn't have much to do with actually organising the event, but I believe the Event Co-Ordinator got this information from here, which incorrectly states that there is an Approach controller (whereas you as you are correct in saying it is just a procedural tower controller). I pointed this out, but we decided to station an Approach controller also to deal with the greatly increased traffic flow ;)
