Like this, but silver:

The real thing looks a lot more sporty, although that might just be after driving it. I took a tonne of pics on my phone, now I just need to get a USB cable for it.

Congrats on winning the comp!

Agreed! They're an awesome machine  Great value for money too, think of them as a more sporty version of a VW Passat (they share about 90% mechanical compnents).
Almost scored one as a wedding car, but the Hamilton demo model had to go out of town at the last minute so we had to make do with a BMW 750iL, an Alfa 156 QV and the flatmates Alfetta
I think if I had the cash I'd take the Skoda Fabia vRS, its the Octavias insane little brother... 130bhp, 310nm, 1.9 turbo-diesel. Quicker than a Mini Cooper too as Top Gear proved

Those are nice cars, sadly a Trademe search reveals that it may be sometime before I can afford one. :(

Edit - Or maybe I could make do with one of the old Soviet era Skodas? Perhaps not... :P

I still shiver when I hear 'Skoda', a neighbour had one in the 80's, square underpowered leaky unreliable heap of rust it was. . It will take more than a flash looking car to lose that stigma in some older people's eyes I reckon!

LOL! I've got a feeling that some people had a bad run with them... I've had 6 of the rear engined models (2x S110L from the 70's, and 4x 120L from the late 80's) and apart from a new steering rack on one, and throwing some smaller (yes, smaller!) alloys on them to get them on some wider section tyres, no problems here :) Never paid more than $400 for any of them, all WoF'd and Reg'd with the highest k's being 120 thou.

Flatmate must also be a nutter... He's just imported some MegaSquirt parts for a DIY ECU, to throw in his weekend car... an 88 Skoda 120 with a 1300 turbo conversion :P

The only ones under $20,000 are older Fabias, which don't look that flash. Unfortunately >$20,000 is a lot of money for an unemployed student!

More than flash looking my friend ;) Skodas now have a reputation for being ultra-reliable (gasp!) , great value and are also renowned for great build quality.
Gave a Mitsi Evo a good kicking at the lights on the Hutt motorway, then the Skoda roared over the Rimutakas as if she wasn't trying- Oh yeah and all at an average of 7.2L/100KM. :D
