March Screenshot Competition

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Postby ardypilot » Fri Mar 07, 2008 6:10 pm

This month, we are holding a special screenshot competition to honor one of New Zealand's greatest icons, Sir Edmund Percival Hillary, who passed away in January. He is known worldwide for being the first man to conquer Mount Everest, and also constructing Nepal's most renowned airport, Lukla (VNLK) in the mighty Himalayan Mountains.

To celebrate his lifetime of achievements, this completion will be themed around Mountains, with your screenshot showcasing this theme of terrain in whatever way you can creatively imagine. The winner will receive a download copy of the Aerosoft's amazing Lukla package, featuring the famous sloping runway available for both FS2004 and FSX. More information on the prize here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the 22nd monthly screenshot competition, which is free to enter for all the members of NZFF.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be as close as possible to 984 pixels wide- read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high res version saved on your computer as the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert it into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your should suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that what positioning your aircraft and camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from March 7th 2008 to March 31st 2008, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by pressing the edit button, to the top right of your post. Please don't make new posts saying you have edited your original post as this makes the thread cluttered).

5) On March 31st, a poll will open and run for a few days to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the Lukla prize package!

6) Minimal editing is allowed, (brighten/contrast, sharpening, blurring etc, no importation of other images allowed!) if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

7) This month's theme is 'Mountains', where your screenshot must display a link with mountainous terrain- be creative!

All the best to everyone, lets see lots of entries guys! May the best man win!

Footnote: It is general practise that the winners(all prize getters) of the month before do not enter the competition. It is up to you though

An Auster skiplane would of been appropiate - Sir Ed flew with Sir Harry Wigley a few times when they were trying out the then new skis (forerunner of Mount Cook Airlines & Skiplanes). But no decent FS ones out there. My shot is of another British legend (with a similar engine) flying off into the sunset over the Southern Alps near Mount Cook.

In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.
