The auction is due to close on April 1st ... does that ring any warning bells?

I'm in for a 1/1000 share. Just need another 999 people to come in with me!

What's the bet US Customs tries to impound it...
Yer, I'm still grumbling about Doug's Spitfire :@

Except as far as I can tell it's not airworthy, so they might let it out.

 It would be neat to have it! But I don't have circa 2.5 million dollars to shell out on one.

Cheers

I hope SOMEONE picks it up, then the darned thing may just fly! I remember reading in 2004 that a first flight was imminent! The Subritzkys do some great work (witness Mk.Vc JG891), but I'm not sure any of their restorations have yet flown in NZ.

Comrade Adamski, pencil me in for Share #2!

Charl - I'm lost, what do you mean? This lady is domiciled in the North Shore, Dairy Flat I think.

Just a thought....

Should NZFF members get together and buy an aircraft or a share in one?

Trojan share available at the mo.

How many members? excess of 900.

Thoughts?

I'm in!

Zac, just being a little wry - she lives 5 minutes down the road from me, but the last Spit didn't get here because of some US arms embargo or whatever... red tape.
That was so daft I had immediate doubts about this one too!

The closing dates changed - he must of realised that nobody would take it seriously with a 1 April closing date

Have the Subritzkys actually ever finished a restoration, I remember JG891 in their shed at North Shore with green primered completed fuselage back in the early 90's at an airfield open day, certainly good workmanship, I understand that it was a bit of a wreck when they got it originally, but she was sold off after 15/20? years ownership and completed to airworthy in Duxford not that long ago

How far along is TE330?

K5054NZ, I know the Wings over Wairarapa event organisor, 'apparently' next years event will have a certain mark debuting ;)

I'll ask her the question, she mentioned it some time ago, I manage the logistics for a big IT showcase every July that travels AKL, WGTN, ChCh that she organises also, she was telling me thats why these big airshows are every 2 years, it takes that much time to plan, book, confirm, get permits etc (something that fool Ken Ross obviously didn't realise!!)

I've got to talk her into convincing one of 'her flyboys' to give me a ride in a warbird....... :D

Thanks for HU Fauville.

When I read WOW I thought of Wanaka but thats a pretty good line up for Wairarapa - they must be making very good progress with the Deere Spitfire. I presume the other Spitfire is the two seat one and the P-40s is the OLd Stick & Rudder P-40E and Garth Hogans P-40N - what about the Corsair? Now I have to plan my trip ........

The Subritzky Spitty is been auctioned in the UK so say goodbye to that one.......... Their Hawker Hart is also for sale.

sad.gif At least she's got a chance of flying now!

I visited Brendon a couple of months back - gorgeous work on that Spit, you can see your reflection in the rocker covers! - and he's optimistic for a first flight in December. Totally can't wait!

Well ... I hope this time we get a bit of advance warning about *when* ... so we can charge up our batteries for our cameras winkyy.gif

Seeing a Spit fly in NZ is all too rare, these days. Mind you, it could just get crated out "as is" sad.gif

17th, 18th Jan is the dates for Wings over Wairarapa next year, tickets on sale now, both the Booker and Deere Spits are due to fly, yes Naki Corsair also, the WW1 birds, L-39 Albatross etc. I'm a definite goer, helps to know the event organiser, she said just show up and she'll look after everything
