WANAKA! Who's going?

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby K5054NZ » Tue Mar 18, 2008 9:48 am

Hi all!

Ok, with me about to leave for Wanaka around sunrise on Thursday, I thought it wise to establish who is going to be there, and when.

I'm there Thursday arvo until Monday, and with my three day pass will probably be on the field non-stop!

I know that Trolly and chopper_nut will be there, but who else?

It's looking less and less likely that I'll make it, I do have a trip to Auckland planned shortly, and I just can't afford them both. Pity, because normally I have trouble organising time to myself at Easter, but this year all the family is off to my ex-wife's wedding:)
Come to think of it, if I had a proper job I'd be off to all the airshows, and there'd be a lot less ex-Mrs-Toprobs about....
For those off to Wanaka for the first time, you'll be blown away.

Yea I think they have done for quite a while at peak times and/or re routing - I have flown on a A320 NZWG - NZAA about four years ago.

I am not going :( ! I am moving houses and wife is about 9 months pregnant so yea bad call if I went.

Actually the A320s are on permanent schedules up and down the country at the moment. Might just be a summer thing for all I know, but they are operating daily on the schedules. Anything with a flight number starting with 1 (eg NZ1###) is A320. They are typically operating 1 to 2 flights a day out of Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. Perhaps it's just to counter Pac Blue, or add some extra capacity.

I will not be attending Warbirds this year, with the $60/day entry fee and the fact that there will probably be no Spitfires flying it came down to a choice of attending or purchasing another add-on for FSX. Had a look at the programme as well, and decided to give it a miss. Plus side is that I will be able to do more simming!!!

Smooth landings!

I'm flying down on Saturday from Timaru in SCAC's Archer (ZKFGH) :D

Probably returning Saturday evening.

Can someone clarify where and when the NZFF meeting is?
