Buy Aircraft NZFF

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby spongebob206 » Tue Mar 18, 2008 6:07 pm

Just a thought....

Should NZFF members get together and buy an aircraft or a share in one?

Trojan share available at the mo. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/A...n-145472374.htm

How many members? excess of 700. What if 10-100 or so were keen?

Thoughts?

I'm in!

Yer right. ROT/NZRO for the win!

Except it's already based at Ardmore.
Expensive but cool I think.
Pay the fee and then a monthly subscription for hangarage etc. plus $110 per flying hour not including fuel, according to the TradeMe page.

Cheers

Seriously though,

100 members $120 each for purchase, monthly fees nothing. Run a raffle if concerned!

Location not an issue, get to fly at any airshow. Warbirds must be interested.

Shall I check it out?

There's a couple of aircraft I'd buy into:
piper pacer

Meridian

Ag Cat

L-29

How awesome.
It really would be neat to own an aircraft...

When I grow up I'm determined to own something that flies.
And yes, I'll have it registered ZK-COW (currently registered though).

Actually $120 each isn't a lot of money and it would be awesome just to have it.
I have $120 to spare as well. How convenient.

The Beech is neat too. I wonder how much they want for that.

Cheers

Derek, in all seriousness, if we get the numbers I'd be in for sure. The Tro is a mean aircraft with a real presence, and of course it's a multiseater. Perhaps we should get in touch with the syndicate to see how feasible it is? With our numbers it shouldn't be too hard to find those willing to part with coin to OWN A WARBIRD.

Not wanting to be a downer... but stumping up a couple of grand to buy into a syndicate is nothing... its what happens when the 50/100-hourly needs to be done... or the ARA... or the right landing gear hydraulics goes on the fritz... or the ELT needs to be upgraded... or the other owners want to upgrade the avionics... or it needs a repaint... or...

There is a lot more to aircraft ownership than the initial buy-in to a syndicate...

As the saying goes:

"If it flies, floats or fornicates.... RENT IT!"

Yes, unfortunately there's a lot more involved than just paying a once off fee and going on your merry way. I know that people on Airliners.net periodically try to buy a communal aircraft and it hasn't ever gone anywhere. Still, if enough people were keen I might consider donating something to the cause. :)

Oh VAC,

A man with my dreams.

I've logged around 80 hours aero's (I'm a Dreamer, checked logbook 32.8 Aero's, big difference) in an airtourer.

We used to lease one on weekends DYK a 130 hp AT at WU a decade or so back. Awesome machine. No grunt but fun all the same.
150 would be better, love to try out the Air trainer one day. have only seen 2 forsale and both out of Aussie.
